You have to be very crafty,
This review is from: Cake Sculpture & Sculptured Figure Piping (Paperback)
This is the only book by this Author that i have been disappointed in.The idea of this book is great, cake sculpture's would be a great thing to be able to do.I find this book to be beyond any cake decorator i know.Decorating the cakes themselves is easy enough but to make the sculpture you also need to be a carpenter.Or at least know someone who has all these wood cutting tools & the ability to make the bases for these cakes. You have to have several different wooden bases which act as your cake board & they are in layers throughout the cake. Its like your making a cake inside of a shelf. If you can do these your a very talented person and have my admiration! You could also charge alot for them & make some good money because people would want to buy them.Examples of the cakes that are in it is ; a bird, elephant, tiger, hobo, bull, rabbit, bear, scarecrow, man's head, crab,a very cute baby, foot, beer bottle, woman, and a man.If your not up to this challenge{ as i am not} look at this author's other books. The figure piping book is great as well as the cone figures.

MAJOR WASTE OF MONEY!!!!,

I have always admired Roland Winbecklers' "works of art," so when I ordered this book I knew it would take great skill and patience to do cake sculpturing. When I received this thin 35 page 'booklet' (not a book by any means!) with very few 'actual' picture illustrations (it only contained sketches), not to mention the very few pictures it did contain were black and white, I felt very cheated and didn't learn anything from it!Again, Roland Winbeckler is a master at cake sculpturing, he just needs to work on writing a BETTER and FULLER book if he truly wants to show his readers how to learn this craft; rather than charging [price] for this OLD worthless 'booklet'.

I really wish I had read all the reviews to find out that this is not really a "book" but a "booklet". It is OK, but not enough information to justify the price of $12.95.
