I purchased this as a gift for my friend and when I started to thumb through it, I had to get another copy for myself. They have crazy recipes using things like Cadbury Creme eggs to make Eggs Benedict. I think it is a perfect gift for someone with a sweet tooth.

Too "Sweet" for Words!,

Jessie Oleson has been entertaining the readers of her blog, CakeSpy, for years. She now has one of the sweetest reads on paper as well. If you have ever enjoyed her blog, her articles on Serious Eats and features about her in magazines far and wide, you know this book is awesome. If you have never checked her out, I HIGHLY suggest you run out and grab this book right away. PLUS, it was just recently included in the Today Show "Best Books for the Holidays Gift Guide" ([...]). Five stars, Five cookies, Five cakes and more!

THIS. BOOK. ROCKS. Like the cover suggests, it's full of fun, whimsical, and some silly desserts/breakfast sweets. It's a perfect book to invite your baking friends over to have a sugar-overload party. Elvis Whoopie pies, anyone? How about Red Velvet Cake Shake or Dessert Tacos? Or maybe Pie Pops are more your style? Cakespy's recipes aren't fussy or fancy or high-maintenance and use basic equipment. I literally think the most "out there" thing you might need is a popsicle stick! The recipes encourage you to make your own personal tweak too to suit your tastes. If that's not enough the adorable book is PINK and has Cakespy's awesome illustrations all over the pages. Buy this book, make a batch of Nanaimo bars, and you've got yourself an instant best-present-ever! :)

Jessie Oleson knows her desserts, and knows how to appeal to your sweet tooth, even if you didn't know you had one. She's got some over-the-top creations here, as well as simpler but no less mouthwatering recipes for things like S'moreos (yes, s'mores goodness in an Oreo cookie!) to tricked out cereal treats (extra colorful, chewy and memorable), cupcake-stuffed cupcakes, Elvis whoopie pies (yes, peanut butter buttercream and bacon between banana cookies). Even for someone with as big a sweet tooth as me, some of these are extremely over the top (Cadbury Creme Eggs Benedict), but that doesn't mean they aren't delightful to contemplate. There's cookie cake pie, doughnut pie, brownie pie, and while many of the photos or even titles look complex, the recipes aren't. Oleson's creativity in taking dessert to a whole new level of artistry and playfulness is evident in every recipe here, meaning there aren't just glazed cinnamon rolls, but glazed cinnamon rolls stuffed with chocolate chip cookie dough. The seasonal treats like homemade conversation heart cookies, mimosa brownies, Pop Rocks cookies and even homemade candy corn are fun at-home activities with kids. Throughout you'll also find her cupcake artwork in all its cuteness.

This book is absolutely adorable, and the writing is super funny. No, not all of these desserts are everyday eating, but they sure are fun--I can't wait to test out the "Cadbury Creme Eggs Benedict" on my friends this spring.
