7 of 7 people found the following review helpful By Nikoli Gogol on October 5, 2010
Format: Paperback
This is the book for you if you have an interest in digital synthesizers. The first hundred pages describe how to create music using any synthesizer. Several of the Cakewalk synthesizers described are available free and download links are provided. The author, Simon Cann, has his own site where illustrative sound samples can be downloaded.

Simon Cann describes complex information in an understandable manner. The illustrations are wonderful. The book would appeal as much to beginners as to experts.

For someone who was just beginning to mess with the synthesizer world this book was a great help. Sometimes all the knobs and settings could be a bit much but this book breaks it down for you in easy to understand directions. Wish there were more downloadable content. But like the book the way it is. Great Job!

This book I have read and keep going back to and over various parts. I have completely changed the way I use most of the synths and add-ons in Sonar. I have now reworked a lot of what I did earlier with totally different ideas. I have not yet been able to cover everything(there is just so much to cover).

Since reading this book I have been reading several of the How to Make a Noise books by Simon Cann and recommend all of them but for Cakewalk users Cakewalk Synthesizers From Presets to Power User"" is a must.
