This was a great solution for me. Instead of having to pull the cylinder head off and/or replace the head at much greater cost, I was able to use the tools to repair the number 7 plug threads after my 1999 Expedition blew out the spark plug. I now have the Expedition back on the road and running perfectly for over 3 weeks since the repair. These tools probably saved me about $750 and many hours even though I can do my own engine repairs.

This tool is well worth the money that you would spend for it. I was able to repair the blown out sparkplug on my 98 Ford Expedition with out the worry of misalignment. This was done on the #7 cylinder, which is under the heater hoses, and after5 pulling the hoses out of the way I could access it easly. The only problem was that I needed to file the alignment sleeve to fit the hole in the head that is used for the guide. This caused me to take about 2 hours longer than if it was sized to fit before. If it ends up being to loose in another hole I can always shim it to fit. I have had the truck running for a month now and believe that this is a good long term fix. I did take one star away because of the extra work needed to make the tool not seeze up in the hole.

this tool is so excellent, its easier to use than the standard helicoil tools and much faster and much more sollid when in motor.the shipping and price was excellent to.

The kit arrived quickly and was complete, the mini DVD instruction disc wouldn't play on any device I have, they all said it was blank. The video is online though, so it wasn't a problem.

It took longer to watch the video than actually do the job, and it was much easier to do than I expected. The truck has been driven for several weeks now with no issues.

When my expedition puked its no. 4 plug and I saw where it was located up under the firewall all hidden away, I thought how in the world am I going to repair this. After calling a few garages and getting prices in the 300 dollar range with no warranty on their workmanship and discussing how they actually repaired it I got on the internet and realized this was such a common problem(shame on Ford) that this repair kit was available I was happy. I have been a toolmaker for over thirty years and this kit is designed exactly how I would do it and though it is pricey I know the cost of tooling. The actual operation was as easy as the video showed and worked well.

Saves a of expence and down time. Installs easy and works perfect. Now better than when new. Very inexpensive way to repair blown out spark plugs.

Two weeks after I bought my 99 f 250 it spit out a spark plug, it had been repaired previously, I could tell (I'm an industrial mechanic), and was spit out, then stuck back in with partial threads, and epoxied, to sell the vehicle, to me!, well I don't usually pull spark plugs when buying vehicles. after lengthy research, because I only want to fix it once, I settled on this kit, and ordered two extra inserts to do the entire motor . I was taking my time, you will need an air compressor and a good air ratchet, after 8 hours actual work time I was finished, and I do have experience with tools! bottom line, after 20,000 miles, the motor is still running great, no problems. was it worth it, yes, figure out the cost of two new heads and then the labor or lost time for a re-repair on a repair. the kit was not packed tight,and the tools were out of place and banged around, which for tool steel is not good, its so hard it's fragile, fortunately they were ok, but I did not recieve the video, but they sent it out right away, although I had finished the job before I received it, point being , they made good.You need or someone needs mechanical common sense to pull this off,if you have a trust worthy mechanic you can give them the job, tell them you want your tools back tho,

I had the #8 spark plug blow out for the second time on my 2001 Ford Super Crew 5.4L. I spoke to the nearest Ford dealer's repair shop and they would do the helicoil but after talking to a few people and doing some research I found out with the helicoil there could be some compression loss. I was real happy to find the CalVan Tool. After reading reviews on it and speaking to a local mechanic I bought the CalVan and had that mechanic install it for me. He was real impressed with the tool and the ease of use. He told me he has done some helicoils in the past but had to remove the head. When I told him about the CalVan tool he thought he would still have to remove the head but when I got the tool in and showed it to him, he was real impressed. To sum it up, GREAT BUY and GREAT TOOL!!!!!
