Calagel is a tremendously helpful product that has kept me afloat throughout my lifelong battle with severe atopic dermatitis and numerous bouts of itchy hives and/or oozing, cracked and infected dry skin. Calagel is my number one and immediate treatment for relief, and I am so grateful that I have come across this product. It alleviates the intense, hot and itchy patches on my skin, which would often make their way to my face and neck swelling my skin and essentially, turn me into an itching lunatic.

Calagel contains the same active ingredient as found in Benadryl (Diphenylhydramine) along with menthol (analgesic; itch reliever), and other ingredients necessary to reduce the inflammation and prevent infection. It is not messy at all and a small amount of it covers a large portion of effected skin. It has a fairly weak odor.

Calagel has been a wonderful amenity to have with me, whenever I may be at or out of home in case my skin contact and food allergies present a reaction. In no way, should this product be used as a primary treatment for severe anaphylaxis, which should be treated by an emergency medical professional, but Calagel is your answer to everything else. It's other uses for poison ivy and sumac irritations only act as icing to the cake.

In other words, I recommend Calagel to anyone with itching, hives (uticaria), or skin contact allergy issues. This product will be an excellent resource, whether on vacation or at home, to counter those itchy and irritating reactions!!

This stuff is AMAZING!! I had poison ivy and nothing worked. I tried toothpaste, bleach, salt, and all matter of itch creams and nothing brought relief. Then, I bought this Calagel and it not only dried up the poison ivy, but it soothed the itch. It's a cool gel with a pleasant smell, and yes, it takes a while to dry, but while it is drying, it remains cool and brings relief.

I also had a flea problem in my house. I react to flea bites and they itch just as bad a poison ivy. I tried EVERYTHING to get some relief from the itching. I tried calamine lotion and spray, white vinegar, alcohol, benadryl, itch cream, but none of it worked. Then I remembered I had this gel and that it says, "relieves itch and pain for insect bites" as well. Again, this stuff amazes me. It has brought me relief twice when nothing else wouldn't

I am very allergic to poison ivy and this stuff is great for that. I also have chronic shingles and when I first see a breakout of shingles, I can take my medicine for it; however, it is this gel that dries up the shingles faster than anything. Also, heat aggravates shingles. Even if a case of shingles is getting better, all I have to do is go outdoors in summer heat and they will rise and turn red. This Calagel totally controls that and keeps them under wraps while the medication does its job. I used to use calamine, but it simply does not dry them up like Calagel. I like Caladryl for poison ivy because it has benedryl in it. I use Calagel for shingles while I'm trying to get them under control. There's simply nothing better out there. Make sure you buy the Calagel made by TEC LABS -- the others don't work as well.

This is now our number 1 go to salve. This product works better than any other we have used. It works better than expected and everyone should have a bottle handy if you have any itching issues. The product is clear odorless with soothing lasting satisfaction. Throw out the pink stuff this is the end all beat all anti itch product.

I'm one of those lucky ones that really is sensitive to poison ivy (or oak or sumac, take your pick). The urishol oil spreads like wildfire on my skin. At the moment, I use 3 different products, two made by Tec, like the one here.

Pro:
-Great for itch relief, feels cool to the touch... aaah, feels so good!
-Lifts/traps irritant oils as it slowly dries
-Also claims that it also has antiseptic properties, so if you've scratched you can try to avoid an infection
-Been around for years, at least it was on the shelves in 2001 when I first purchased Calagel
-Light odor and no discoloration of skin or clothes... no "pink stuff" like Mom's old-fashioned product
-Cap is well-designed and does not leak if I take it with me on the road
-If you look carefully, you get a free trial-size sample of "Tecnu" bundled with this Calagel package

Con:
-None to report

Bottom line: Highly recommended. Been using it since 2001 and I love it. I use it about every 3 hours and apply it several times in a row if needed. Once it starts itching, it's harder to stop it, so do it more often. See our other poison ivy relief favorites.

I am the type of person that gets poison ivy by just looking at it,...through a window! I currently have a HORRIBLE rash on my legs and both arms. I have tried 5 different creams/gels/ointments along with steroid pills and tablet benadryl at night. This stuff blows them all away. It stops the itch, is cooling, odorless (not that I care what something smells like as long as it brings relief!), and most important lasts for more than 5 min.
Do yourself a favor and buy this stuff!
