While Caladryl is similar to calamine lotion, I have found this product to be effective at greatly reducing the "tingling" feeling that I have had on my arm since I contracted a bad case of shingles a couple of weeks ago. That's something extra that regular calamine lotion didn't do for me!

This feels nice and soothing when I rub some on the part of my arm that has that tingling feeling; and after that the tingling is reduced quite a bit. This lotion dries quickly; and I can easily wash the leftover residue from my hands using regular soap and water.

There's really nothing negative I have to say about this product, although of course if you have any questions or concerns about your own situation ask a doctor or pharmacist before using Caladryl.

I highly recommend this product based on my experience and it should provide relief from itching caused by poison oak, sumac and poison ivy as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stopped the itch, May 1, 2011

I bought the bottle of Caladryl out of desperation recently after enduring almost a week of incessant itching from a bad case of poison ivy reaction. I'd already tried five anti itch products with little effect.

After taking a shower and thoroughly cleaning my inflamed arms, I applied the Caladryl generously. I put the Caladryl on a piece of tissue and dabbed it on my arms. As I type this the relief from itching because of the Caladryl is most welcome.

Caladryl is much thinner and less "fragrant" than the calamine lotion I remember from my youth. It's not nearly as visible on the skin as the telltale calamine lotion.

A patch of poison ivy rash on my knee hasn't responded as successfully to the Caladryl as did my arms. Hence the four stars.
