This review is from: Calandia Guidebook (AD&D, City State of the Invincible Overlord) (Paperback)
I wrote this (and other Calandia supplements)under the pen name Terry Randall, which I was compelled to use at the time so as not to be blackballed at another major RPG publishing company for writing for the competition. I've written other RPG material & sf/fantasy books under my name of Deborah Christian.

Mayfair Games did not give sufficient thought to the the well-rounded world design needed to support a classic legacy product like Judge's Guild "City State" setting. They hired me to expand the concept and develop content for it after they had already painted themselves into a corner in terms of game design decisions encapsulated in their foundation boxed set/GM product.

The Calandia guidebook was intended to rectify some of that shortsightedness by offering more cultural hooks for game play, and beef up the world setting of the milieu it took place in. This master GM guide is to my knowledge the only RPG game-guide of its kind to include a wholely original native language and script written and developed for the world setting of Calandia.
