A tense, shockingly written thriller, Calculated Risk documents Denise Tiller as an original mystery/suspense writer of considerable promise and someone to keep track of.

A really good read for a first effort. Good suspense but not too rough for a cozy fan. I look forward to Tiller's next effort.

From time to time you can pick up a book that you can't put down. Calculated Risk is one of those books you can really enjoy and have a good reading experience; it grabs the reader from the first page (started the book at 4:30PM - stayed awake to finish it). Enjoy!

Lots of things are going on in this mystery, and all of them are connected. We have rapes, murder, blackmail, Mardi Gras masks, and a very realistic romance between a cop and an actuarial who just can't seem to mind her own business. Entertaining and fun reading.

I really enjoyed Calculated Risk! The story didn't get bogged down with technical details. Denise Tiller really focused on the crime, the characters lives, and how these factors interacted together. If you are a mystery fan...buy this book!

A great read! I loved Liz with her enhanced fingernails and smart mouth. The backchat with her teen-aged sister is right on target. Well paced; plot follows through nicely. Mixes search for killer with new-technology religion with dysfunctional family with realistic romance. First in a new series and I can't wait for the next one.

Wellll...it was really hard to make the book last through the weekend. I kept making up excuses to 'escape' from weekend chores so I could read -- just 1 more chapter.

For once, a female,main character who is tall, and not only has a brain in her head but uses it...Hope she shows up again!
