This review is from: Calculus Concepts - An Applied Approach to the Mathematics of Change (Hardcover)
This is by far the worst math book I have ever had the displeasure to read. I teach many different math classes and over the years I have read a lot of different calculus books. But nothing like this one. First, I think that the authors decided to go with the worst approach possible to all of the concepts. For instance, instead of talking about anti-derivatives the call them accumulation functions. This will only confuse the student and make a concept that is basically simple way more difficult than it actually is. For another example, the book does not teach the quotient rule for taking derivatives, and then give you really nasty things to take the derivative of, set equal to zero, and solve for x. The book craps out of this by saying things like: By the use of technology, we solve this equation. What if your teacher won't let you use a calculator? You just got screwed.

To make things worse, there are mistakes everywhere in Chapter 5. This is the fourth edition, how did this happen? Is the publisher blind?

If you have a choice spend your money elsewhere, if your teacher is using this book, I feel sorry for you, stick your head between your knees, and say good bye to your grade.

Hard to understand with the examples. Answers not listed for all problems. I had to get another book to understand what was going on.
