5.0 out of 5 stars Another tremendous Beamish release, February 28, 2001

This review is from: Caldedonian Road/Day Dawn/No I'm Not Afraid (Audio CD)
Sally Beamish is one of the finest composers working today in the UK and this second release from BIS with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra contains another sampling of her fine music. Of special note is the soprano saxophone concerto, THE IMAGINED SOUND OF SUN ON STONE. It is a truly gorgeous, evocative, exciting work. The solo part is expertly performed by the brilliant John Harle, for whom the piece was written. The other works all come together to create a fine CD release -- a portrait of this distinctive musical voice.
