About the Author

David Skoll is currently the president and founder of Roaring Penguin Software Inc., a Linux consulting firm that specializes in fitting Linux into existing heterogeneous networks. David has used and administered Linux networks since 1995. David writes a monthly Linux column for a local computer magazine, and has written a free calendar program for Linux and UNIX that can be found at ftp://ftp.doe.carleton.ca/pub/remind-3.0/. David is a veteran Unix administrator and programmer who has developed several large commercial-quality Unix applications. Lyle Taylor has used every version of the Caldera Linux distribution since the original CDE 1.0. Lyle is an independent software engineer working as a contractor for News Aktuell (Hamburg, Germany), for whom he is writing Java tools that will run under Linux.

Its a good book for a linux beginner, like i am. The book covers many of tha basics but more advanced linux users will find the book useless. I was able to have a fairly good knowledge of caldera open linux within a week or so. To sum up, this book is a newbies dream but the advanced user won't need this

Really a good book, with a good and simple explanation of all topics. A lot of images which drives reader in a simpler use and configuration of system. A valid alternative to the online documentation if you don't want to tire your eyes
