A very good read in light of the financial industry's role in the most recent crisis. Fast and loose banking combined with heavy political influence propelled the Caldwell/Lea banking empire to a position of dominance in my home state of Tennessee.
This book should be followed by a read of Whirlwind, the story of the Butcher banking empire sixty years later. Eventually, history repeats itself. |
