5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Post-Rock record ever., January 5, 2011

I love this record, I love Jakob across their discography, but this is the standout for me. I have listened to this type of music for at least 20 years (straight arc back through shoegaze and noise sculpture) this is a high point, it is mesmerizing and melodic. Heavy, and definitely rooted in rock but something else all together. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Natural High, May 26, 2010

This New Zealand trio could conquer the war on drugs single-handedly, for one can catch a buzz just listening to ANY of their albums. Cale Drew would be an excellent place to start your natural high binge. I have never heard a more powerful, multi-layered, and textured musical landscape in all the years that I have listened to music than the one that is produced by this band. To think that all of that sound comes from just three artists is MIND-BOGGLING. If an eagle could have music in its head while soaring above the granite cliffs while in a somber (NOT depressed, mind you), but somber, introspective mood, it would be Jakob. I hate to make comparisons, especially with a respect to this band who possess a very unique sound, but to give you some additional insight for you decision to buy or not to buy their work, I would describe them as a mix of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, God Is An Astronaut, Explosions In The Sky, the MELLOW sections of ISIS, a dose of Red Sparrowes, and pinch of Tangerine Dream. I HIGHLY recommend checking out Jakob's video "Verstaeker" on Youtube. If you even kinda like ANY of the aforementioned bands, that video and all of Jakob's music WILL BLOW YOU AWAY! Enjoy!
