5 Stars if I EVER got it..., December 12, 2006
This review is from: Caleca Zafferano 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
Like another Caleca buyer, I never got it. Ordered early Sept. and still not projected to ship till Jan 25. Really wanted it as it was lighter weight, beautiful, very chip resistant, Micro and Dish Washer safe. I ordered 3 sets and was going to order a 4th. Plus I ordered additional accessories such as serving plates, casserols...just about everything they had in this pattern. Very bummed. Perhaps it was not to be.

Handmade in Italy, long lasting, and a reasonable price. What more can one want?, June 29, 2008
This review is from: Caleca Zafferano 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
I read the other reviews and was sorry to see that the buyers either did not receive their dishes in a timely manner or did not receive them at all. I bought this four place setting set this month, June, and it was at my home in 3 days. I used second day shipping. Further, the day I bought it the set was on sale for thirty six dollars! I have owned Caleca since 1990 and the only complaint I have is this ironstone never wears out. And I mean never. I owned Pink Garland first and recently donated it to the Goodwill...in mint condition. I bought a set which name I can't recall, similar to PG but with blues, pink and white, in the late 90's. It is still in perfect condition. At a time when even Spode is making it's lovely china and stoneware in China instead of the U.K., it is wonderful to buy dishes still made the same way they were over 20 years ago. In the early 80's, Caleca was a brand that every "Yuppie" family seemed to have a set of. Now their trendiness has past. But their quality is just as superior as ever. The new set I'm reviewing here, Zafferano, which I paid so little for and had delivered here in three days, is perfect. The dishes are all about one inch smaller in circumference but still made in Italy. That smaller size is a good change as we all need to cut back on the amounts of food we consume. And smaller plates do mean we subconsciously do eat smaller amounts. The colours are gorgeous, the feel of the ironstone is just as good as before and like my other Caleca sets, these are well made and I'll still be using this new set 10 years from now. I recommend, especially in these money tight times, this brand of dishes. While no longer "the fashion", they are lovely and suit nearly any lifestyle with the exception of formal dining and are priced well, especially when on sale, in a manner than nearly any family can afford. Which would you rather have? A nice handmade and handpainted set of dishes from Italy for under one hundred dollars or pay that or more for a set of mass produced dishes made by machine from China such as is carried now not only at Wal Mart and Target but also at Macys? Sadly, even Spode and Wedgwood have moved certain production lines to China, for example Spode's Christmas dishes, and the dishes are dismal compared to their UK produced cousins. As with anything, it is not only " the name" that matters, but the actual quality of the items themselves. Think about Caleca the next time you need some everyday ware.

CALECA ZAFFERANO DISHES, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Caleca Zafferano 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
These are BEAUTIFUL. I put these on my wish list months before I got them hoping that they would go on sale and they finally did. They are very pretty and will go perfect in my new home's kitchen. My only complaint is they are heavy. Other than that- no complaints. I ordered two sets and both were received in excellent condition. FYI 1.the bowls are very shallow; 2.the mugs are pretty big-which I like.
