5.0 out of 5 stars Calendar Boys, September 23, 2008
This review is from: Calendar Boys, Vol. II: April-June (Paperback)
Mason Ritter has a crush. Unfortunately, it's on his boyfriend's sister's fiancée. Luckily his boyfriend's family all live in Mexico and Mason's time around Anton, the man he is finding himself fantasizing about more and more, is limited. When Miguel informs him that his sister is throwing a huge fiesta for Cinco de Mayo and he and Mason were going to Puebla to help with party planning, Mason wasn't sure if he would be able to keep his feelings for Anton or his hands to himself.

Anton Rocha's life has changed since meeting Pedra. He had no one before her, and now he has a chance of having a family. So what if she believes she has "cured" him. He can put the past behind him and live happily with her. At least he thought he could, until he met Mason. Mason re-awakens feelings and memories of a life Anton would rather not think about.

From the start of Corazón, I got the impression that the relationship between Mason and Miguel was not one built on passionate love. They seem tolerant of each other but not in love. Mason and Anton were definitely embarking on complicated and emotionally distressing territory. In the beginning of the story, I wasn't convinced that what they felt for each other was strong enough to have to deal with all of that. As the story progresses, the chemistry and passion between the two become stronger and more desperate. It also becomes clear that Miguel and Mason's relationship is nothing more than the need of companionship. Corazón fittingly touched my heart mostly because of Anton. He's the big, strong silent type who only wants acceptance and love and luckily he finds it with Mason. Corazón is a slow paced story. It took me a while to feel the connection between the two heroes, but once I did I very much enjoyed this story.

Andrew Parish has been slowly falling in love with his professor Dr. Levi McCrea for the last four years. The night before he graduates, Andrew makes the bold move to approach Levi at his home. Convincing Levi to act on their mutual attraction is hard.

Technically, Andrew is still his student and Levi has spent the last four years reminding himself of that so he would keep his hands off of him. It's a habit that is hard to break. Once graduation is over and Andrew comes back, will Levi accept what Andrew has to offer?

Commencement is very sexy, very hot, and very romantic. Andrew is a man on a mission when it comes to his pursuit for Levi. Taking no for an answer is not an option. Levi is more reserved about his feelings at first. Once he gives in to Andrew, his dominant and slightly possessive side comes through. It's very sexy. Andrew and Levi have great chemistry both in and out of bed. Commencement is the perfect May/December romance!

Breaking up with his boyfriend and having him walk out at the start of what was supposed to be a romantically erotic weekend and then getting trapped by a flash flood that he, as meteorologist, didn't predict, Nick Lau really should be having the worst weekend of his life. Luckily for him, when it rains, it pours and it's that down-pour that brings sexy park ranger Jay Archer to his cabin door.

Jay just wanted to make sure all of the tourists were safe, but he ends up getting stranded himself. Jay never expected an evening of trudging through mud and rain would lead to a weekend of getting to know the sexiest man he has ever met.

I really enjoyed this book. Out Of The Storm was sweet, hot, sexy, and plain ol' cute! Poor Nick was so disappointed and heartbroken, Jay was exactly what he needed to perk things up again. These two didn't get off on the right foot when they first met, but a little bit of wine did the trick to get them to start opening up. Jay couldn't resist Nick's charm and Nick was a slave to Jay's beautiful sexiness. I just loved these guys. Jay and Nick helped each other Out Of The Storm and into what may be a very bright and shiny future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Calendar Boys, Vol. II: April-June by Jamie Craig, July 10, 2008
This review is from: Calendar Boys, Vol. II: April-June (Paperback)
Out Of The Storm (Calendar Boys - April) by Jamie Craig

Jay Archer is a park rancher who needs to evacuate a flood zone full of tourist. Nick Lau is a television weather man who has not foretold the bad weather and chose to spend a romantic weekend with his lover in an isolated cabin. But he was dumped soon after his arrival to the cabin and now is mourning and trying to get drunk. And he has no intention to leave the cabin.

At first Jay is all to leave Nick to his depression, but the flood caughts him to the cabin and very near to Nick. Nick all in all is a very handsome and cute guy, and Jay is not the type to deny a man, if he asks and is enough sober to understand what he is asking. So Jay and Nick spend a sexy weekend, but when the rain stops, Jay has to return to his work and Nick to his city... can they find a common path?

Out of the Storm is a sexy little story. Jay and Nick are two characters without inhibitions, and they have no problem to try the boundaries of sex. There is a bit of pleasure/pain game and D/S on both part. Nor Jay or Nick are totally dom or sub, but I think that Nick is the more fragile, he needs reassurance and a man near him who is enough independent to not rely on Nick for everything, but also enough self-conscious to leave sometime the upper hand to Nick.

This is a rather short book, less than 60 pages, and it also spans for only a weekend in Jay and Nick's life, but for me is very enjoyable, and the two characters are deeply enough to allow me to understand them and their reasons.

Corazón (Calendar Boys - May) by Jamie Craig

Can I rename this book "How to pick up two unlikeable characters and make you like them"? Yes, cause in Corazon, we have not one but two cheating man, a thing I find almost unforgivable in a man, and one of the two is also unrepentant, cause he justifies the cheating since he doesn't love his current partner...

Mason is a IT specialist from San Antonio. He has a steady relationship with a colleague, Miguel, a good guy, maybe a little too... normal! Yes cause Miguel is gentle and caring, not selfish, but when they visit Miguel's family in New Mexico, Miguel only asks to Mason to not flaunt their relationship, since Miguel's family knows that their son is gay, but obviously they are not so happy with the situation. But still they welcome Mason in their home, even if with a bit of a cold attitude.

During one of this visit Mason has the chance to exchange some words, and a kiss, with Anton, the boyfriend of Miguel's sister. It's only a kiss and Mason and Miguel leave soon after, so Mason has emphasized the memory in his mind and now he fears the next time he will see Anton, cause he is not sure to be able to stay far from the man. And when Mason and Miguel plan to spend a week with Miguel's family for the Cinco de Mayo's celebration, all what Mason fears comes to reality: Anton confesses to be gay and to have asked Petra to marry him to try to correct his sin and have a normal family. He never thought to find a new male lover after the tragic death of his former one, and he doesn't know how to do now that he and Mason realize that there is something more than a kiss between them.

Mason is not against the idea to start something with Anton, even if for some days, since he isn't really in love with Miguel, he has a comfort relationship, something that is nice and quiet, but that doesn't give him heartthrob like Anton do. And when he realizes that with Anton is something more than a spring fling, he is willing to give it a try, but Anton? will he risk all he has and all he want to be?

In the end I supported Mason and Anton. I still felt a little sad for Miguel (not so more for Petra), but between Mason and Miguel there wasn't the real love that there is with Anton.

Commencement (Calendar Boys - June) by Jamie Craig

Andrew is a 22 years old postgraduating student that, since his first year of college has a crush on one of his professor, Dr Levi McCrea. And now that he is graduated and no more one of his student, Andrew has every intention to win his professor.

Levi is an almost 40 years old handsome man with a rule: never have a personal relationship with one of his student, much less having a sexual relationship. But now Andrew is no more one of his student and when the boy appears on his doorstep asking for a date, how can he refuse?

The story is not very long, 60 pages, but it is charming. Actually the story is good, the sex joyous and the characters nice, so nice that I'd like to read more. Andrew has a pull and push relationship with his parents, so it would be interesting to read how would they react if he brings home a older man that could be his father. Levi has two separate life: in and out the college; he never mingles this tow side of his life... why? does he have some hidden reason?

Andrew and Levi have just began a very promising relationship and they are in that phase in which they spend almost all the time together and alone, but they almost don't interact with the outside world. How will they be? How will Levi manage having a so young lover? What will be the reaction of his colleagues and friends? Does he have friends? Actually we read very few things about him and his life, he remains almost an intrigue.

So in the end the story is very good but it seems like a prequel of a very promising future longer novel.
