By Deborah Sandford "Marian the Librarian" (Madison, NJ, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Calendar Mysteries #5: May Magic (A Stepping Stone Book(TM)) (Library Binding)
Funny story! Number 5 in the series Calendar Mysteries, I found this to be well-written, interesting, with ample illustrations, dialog and varied text. Hypo the Magician is coming to town, and six-year-old Brian, Mrs. Pinto's son, wants his mom to go and get hypnotized. His ulterior motive is to have her influenced to like ducks, so she will agree to let Brian raise ducks so he can make and sell pillows. During the show, Mrs. Pinto gets changed into a duck, and when she is transformed back to her mom self, she remains duck-like which sends Brian into a panic. The surprise ending is nicely done. I will definitely recommend more of Ron Roy's books to my young readers!
