Book Description

Picture-A-Day Wall Calendars June 30, 2007
The second-most-visited tourist destination in the world, Spain welcomes over 52 million visitors every year. 365 Days in Spain is España all year long—romantic, sun-soaked, irresistible. The craggy peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Madrid's Rastro flea market (in operation for six centuries). Sherry grapes ready for harvest. Crumbling Roman aqueducts, tiled fountains, rounds of queso gallego, fresh-picked oranges, massive windmills recalling Don Quixote. With hundreds of transporting, full-color photographs by Peter Matthews and text by Penelope Casas, America's foremost writer on Spanish food and culture, this calendar is an enticing portrait of Spain— from the ancient to the modern.

From the Back Cover

ESPÑANA—VIBRANTE, BELLA, MARAVILLOSA

A vineyard in the shadow of snowy Sierra de Tolono. Flamenco dancers in bright flowered dresses. Sunbathing in Torremolinos. Tiled fountains and crumbling Roman Ruins. Camels in Timanfaya National Park. El Prado, a plate of tender squid with olive oil. Turreted city walls, the view across El Tajo Gorge, jamón Serrano, and hiking El Camino de Santiago trail.

In Spain, where a progressive spirit mingles with a healthy reverence for tradition, a profusion of pleasures await the visitor. Featuring hundreds of full-color photographs and text by Penelope Casas, this calendar is an enticing portrait of Spain's colorful, idiosyncratic, sun-soaked soul—from energetic Madrid to Las Rías Gallegas to the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote.

5.0 out of 5 stars Calendar of Spain, November 9, 2008
Having lived in Spain, I fell in love with this calendar the first year I saw it and I have now used it for several years. The photography is exceptional and the calendar itself very useful. The spaces are large and the finish has permitted the use of a variety of pens/pencils.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's like having your favorite photo album on the wall, December 7, 2006
I LOVE this calendar; I have bought the 365 Days in Spain every year since we left the country. We lived there for 2 years. The photos for every day are just beautiful and give little reminders of our stay, our travels, and our daily experiences there. Some calendars that have one beautiful picture for each month are nice, but this is so much better! There are so many "little things" about a country that touch its visitors, not just the amazing cathedrals and sweeping landscapes, and this calendar captures them so well. There is still plenty of room to write notes and dates in the daily spaces, plus the clear and detailed pictures that take me down memory lane every time I look at them. This is a great calendar and I will never go back to calendars with just one photo per month, why do that when you can have such a gorgeous photo album on your wall?

5.0 out of 5 stars Photography: Regions of Spain, November 9, 2009

I love these 365 Days in Spain Calendars and am very disappointed that they do not
seem to be in print for 2010. The information was wonderful and the photography
excellent. I am very sorry to lose this resource because I love the different regions of Spain!
