5.0 out of 5 stars Wish ALL E Calendars Were This Great June 23, 2011

Along with the other comments in regards to ease of navigation I absolutely LOVE that this app #1 Gives me so many options to repeat an event. Not only weekly or monthly but every 4th Wed or whatever it even allows you to repeat an event for the exact number of days you need it to (make sure to set start date and end date in the middle of the event entry screen). #2 Uses a ballon to show birthdays a mark to show events and a star to show favorites (like vacation time).#3 Already has all holidays built into it. #4 Allows you to see all the events you have easily for the month. #5 Lets you see whats going on during a particular day just by highlighting the day no need to click on the day shows in bottom 1/3 of screen. #6Lets you choose your background. Not much excitement to it but I still love that it allows you to personalize it a bit.
This really is a great app I highly reccomend this along with sticky notes and you wont need anything else to organize yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Balloons for Birthdays! June 26, 2011

This is a very clever app and is useful for many day to day activities, especially if you don't otherwise keep a digital calendar. The things I like:

1) Recurring events. This limits the number of times you have to make entries. For example, if you have to pick up a friend at the same time every Tuesday, you can just enter the event once, and tell it to repeat weekly. (There are options to repeat yearly on a date, etc. I'm excited that there's a "first [e.g., Wednesday] option!)
2) "To Do" lists. These can repeat also (e.g., "check air conditioning filter" monthly, etc.)
3) US holidays are already marked.
4) List view for events and "to do."
5) This app gets more into the month view than many I've seen for other devices, there's:
- an "H" for holidays
- a balloon for birthdays
- a check mark for a "to do" item
- a bar that shows if there's a scheduled event (the location of the bar gives you an approximation of the time).
6) Last but not least - ease of use. I have now read the instructions, but actually did not get around to doing so until after I'd made most of my entries. I could have saved myself a bit of time if I'd read the directions first, but most things are pretty intuitive.

Things that limit usefulness:

No sync with Google calendar, etc. No points off for this as I suspect that it may not be possible with the current Kindle set-up. The absence of a sync doesn't hurt if you do not otherwise use a digital calendar. However, I'm already keeping an office calendar, and entering work events yet another time is not going to happen. I'm limiting the Kindle's calendar to personal stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to navigate June 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm ditching my version of Calendar Pro (sorry, Jujuba Software) for this version by 7 Dragons. LOVE it~ Much easier to navigate and much more user-friendly. I also like how it's easier to see the "big picture"... the calendar will show in the top half of the Kindle screen, with the events listed at the bottom. No need to click on a specific day to see what the events are. I also like how you can choose different backgrounds, even though I'm sticking with the pre-set spiral pad. Thanks 7 Dragons!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the two best Calendar programs June 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
EDIT -- My new favorite is Day Planner & Calendar.

I've tried out this program, Calendar Pro (Jujuba), and Calendar (Compulab). I rate Calendar by 7 Dragons as one of the two 5-star programs, and I haven't decided which I like better first. Both are a tad better than Calendar Pro

Calendar by 7 Dragons
1. Month schedule + Day schedule on front screen.
2. Time blocks visually given in each day on the Month block.
3. (slight con) All entries must be entered as events.
4. In general, more visually useful at a glance.

Calendar (Compulab)
1. Month schedule fills the screen on front screen.
2. Notes and meeting can be typed in as soon as a day is selected. Slightly easier to use.
3. In general, better looking, and easier to use.

So that boils down to a hard decision -- User-friendliness VS Usefulness. Both are quite good, so I haven't decided yet.

EDIT -- after a deeper look at both, I've gone for this one. Mainly due to Repeating meetings, and the incredibly useful front page for the program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for July 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
After trying both Calendar Pro (Jujuba) and Calendar (Compulab), this is the one I decided to stick with. You have the options to set recurring events, you can search events, when it opens up it opens to a monthview which has the day's events listed underneath. It even gives you an option for a to-do list for the day without entering a time for that task. And there is an option to delete the event with just one button. It uses the ALT button for shortcuts around the program. And there is a backup option which I haven't used, but which sounds handy. It is very user friendly.

I have Notepad by 7 Dragons as well which works similarly for just jotting down notes.

Just for those looking at the other options:

Calendar Pro by Jujuba: I like this program a lot as it has options to set the time of the event, repeating options, and a button to delete an event without having to backspace. You can't see a weekly view, but you can view the agenda which basically does that for you, just not in a calendar view. It is more of a list view of all upcoming events.

The reason I decided to stop using this is because when my Kindle decided it needed to reset itself, my events would get affected. An event which occurred on one day, now had its times shifted so it occurred over two separate days, which after four times of adjusting things back, I decided it was time to try another program.

Calendar by Compulab: A nice idea, but it just didn't work for me. There really wasn't an option to delete an event without backspacing (maybe I just didn't find it), there was no real option to set a recurring event (which was not a birthday or holiday), and I just did not find it as user friendly in terms of setting appointments.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a waste
This was not worth what it took to try it out...especially not for Kindle. Perhaps it would be fine for a computer or I-Pad, but for the standard Kindle, nope, not so much.

Sporadically recurring events
Iret,
There is no way to create recurring events that reoccur sporadically.

Only way is to have events that repeat every week or every weekday or every day or every month or every year.

Birthdays can be added as events. If you want them to show up click on the birthday checkbox just... Read more
