Calgon Water Softener is a five star product but...

The seller is apparently hoping you don't know you can get a case (six bottles) from the manuf. for $34.51.

I LOVE this stuff!!!!! I did not buy on here, got it from Walmart....much cheaper. I used it for my daughter's cloth diapers. We have EXTREMELY hard water and I've used everything under the sun: borax, oxiclean, Rockin green, washing soda, I've even stripped her diapers almost every wash. The whole time I thought it was the detergent or the way I'm washing them and was literally just about to give up on the cloth diapers. I tried it last night and for the first time in 7 months, her diapers actually smell clean!!!!! I could not believe how good this stuff cleaned up my water so it could clean up her diapers. I really am impressed, and so impressed, I will be using this for all our laundry. Calgon, take me away!!!

I moved from Seattle to the greater LA area for school and realized water is harder in So. CA. So when I wash my once-white chef jackets with food stains (i.e. red sauces, chocolate, etc.) with this water softener, it comes out clean, bright, and white. I could tell the difference from washing with and without it so I never wash my chef jackets (and my other whites) without it.

Our water is so hard with lime we have to use 4 caps of liquid detergent for a load. Not anymore. We now use this or Borax and it only takes one capful. We are saving money on detergent and clothes look cleaner. Wish I had done this sooner!

I bought this stuff as an experiment, because I was having cloth diaper troubles. It took several full soap free wash cycles to rinse out all of the suds from my initial soap wash (I use Tide powder). Even then, the diapers always smelled a little bit off. Not really "dirty", but not properly spiffy sparkly clean, either.

When this arrived I "stripped" the diapers with RLR to remove any remaining soap residue, and I've been using this in every wash since. Now I only need one extra rinse after washing with the Tide/Calgon, and the diapers are always really truly perfectly CLEAN.

We use this in the black tank of our RV every time we clean it. Helps loosen up the good and provide a clean flush. Our last bottle lasted for over seven months of continous RV usage so even though the price seems high, a bottle goes a long way. We use one cap full every time we empty our 40 gallon tank. We also add a half cup of FAB detergent. Been doing this for three years now and never have any problems keeping the black water tank clean.

AMAZING!! Wash (just about) everything you took to Burning Man in this and watch the playa dust slide right off!! Good as new!

Important note: Rinse well or use the recommended consentation. You want the pH nurtalized - not thrown the other way.

When I say rinse- I mean I soak it in plain water. I did this to dilute/break up the calgon residue, and also .. I lack a hose.

As instructed, use with your cloths in the washer.

But, for my tent - I soaked it in the tub with a "half cap" (for close to an hour) then rinsed twice. A little "grape-stomping" helped too. It was easier, and came out cleaner, than the spray down I gave it last year! Practically shining! 😍

Then, for my bike (which had been sitting dusty for weeks) - I disassembled it and soaked the parts. I made the mistake of making a super thick batch of calgon water on the first soak tho, and perceived some corosion starting. So I lightened it up and soaked in plain water for 15mins -after lightly scrubbing some stubborn areas. .. The result? WOW!! She shines like new & looks better than before we went! (Don't forget to oil afterwards.)

I am hesitant to use it on my car however, though I may do so once I see how my tent and bike hold up over time.

Also, if you are sensitive, wear gloves - it wasn't a big deal tho.

The water in our area is extremely hard and leaves residue on dishes in the dishwasher. I could not find a store that stocked Calgon and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it on Amazon. Now I can rest easy knowing that I will never run out of this item again.
