Editorial Reviews

Orgone are back with Cali Fever, their second album for Ubiquity and a giant step from anything they have ever released in the past. They emerged from the evergreen Los Angeles soulful musical family (band members have also played with Connie Price and the Keystones, Breakestra, Dakah, Rhythm Roots Allstars, The Lions, the Simple Citizens, etc) releasing The Killion Floor in 2007. Tracks like "Dialed Up" and "Funky Nassau" established the bands funk and uptempo soul credibility worldwide scoring them an Adidas campaign, and various tour dates while opening up recently for Gil-Scott Heron.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Funk Album, September 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cali Fever (Audio CD)
Orgone creates an infectious album which blends many styles of funk throughout. You can really hear so many different elements of funk as they weave through their own intrepretations. It's this expermentation that can also come across in different ways. There is some really high highs and some in betweens but the record as a whole is a great listen. When you see their live shows you can tell the band comes at you in one cohesive force and are dialed in with each other. In fact, they absolutely blew my mind when I saw them live at the High Sierra Music Festival. My favorite act there. All in all, this album is testament to a band acknowledging the past, but also trying to push into new pastures. As someone that appreciates good funky music, this is a refreshing album since they don't just try to do what has been done. I look forward to their albums to come as you can tell they are continually creating and mastering their own sound. They are pretty much there already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Style with a New Sound, March 15, 2011
This review is from: Cali Fever (Audio CD)
The band seems to draw from the funk of the 1970s but stays true to California roots as the title suggests. Influences of Sublime and classic rock can be heard while the songs still have soul. The bass and the horns take center stage in this album...except when she starts singing! Can't wait to see them at All Good 2011!
