4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it's supposed to.
Packaging was good, it was secure and well protected. It took some fiddling around with to get the product to work correctly at first, but after a couple goes, I got it working consistantly. Laser was really bright, I was able to bore-sight my mosin nagant 91/30 at 100 meters with ease in my backyard. Only drawbacks were lack of battery life and lack of on/off pressure...

Not 100% accurate, but it gets you close, what I found was that I inserted the Boresighter into my mosin nagant 91/30, and zeroed my scope, removed the boresighter and rotated it 1/4 turn and re inserted the boresighter, the scope was not at zero anymore, re zeroed, and checked scope mounting everything is solid, removed boresighter, rotated it again 1/4 turn and...

Packaging was good, it was secure and well protected. It took some fiddling around with to get the product to work correctly at first, but after a couple goes, I got it working consistantly. Laser was really bright, I was able to bore-sight my mosin nagant 91/30 at 100 meters with ease in my backyard. Only drawbacks were lack of battery life and lack of on/off pressure switch on the backside, similar to other bore-sighting lasers. To turn it off, you have to remove the batteries.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, July 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 7.62 x 54R Caliber Cartridge Laser Bore Sighter for Mosin Nagant Rifles Boresighter (Misc.)
I was skepticle about the other reviews about this product and bought it anyway. Big mistake. I would state the pros/cons but there aren't any pros aside from the the fact that it does fit in a rifle chambered at 7.62x54r. The concept for this boresight is that you install the 3 included LR41 batteries and screw the end cap over them. Once the cap is fully tightened the laser is supposed to turn on. This however is not the case. For the laser to turn on, the batteries have to contact each other and the inner wall of the unit to close the circuit. The product falls short in this endeavor because the diameter of the inner casing is about .12mm too big, therefore the batteries cant complete the circuit properly and any little bump will turn the laser off. I've tried everything to get the unit to work and it still wont work. Just don't waste your money on this one. Some might say that you get what you pay for...but not for this one. Honestly, I wouldn't even pay $3 for it.

UPDATE***
I was tinkering around with the unit the other day and I found out how to fix the battery contact issue. If you have the batteries seated in the unit like the instructions tell you, the laser either flickers on and off at the slightest bump, the batteries drain extremely quickly, or it doesnt turn on at all. However, if you stack the bottom 2 batteries normally and hace the last battery on its side instead of face down, then the laser will turn on. In order to screw on the end cap all you need to do is pull off the end cap spring and follower. When you screw on the end cap make the that the battery that is sitting on its side stays that way. This can be a little tricky so don't worry if it takes you a few tries to get it. Once the cap is screwed down tight, the laser will stay on even if you drop it on a hard surface.

I changed my rating to 2 stars because after I did this, I was able to sight my rifle in properly. The manufacturers of this product really need to work out the kinks or at least provide better instructions as to how to operate the product or troubleshoot it in the event of a minor malfunction. That fact that I had to go through all this trouble to get it to work, especially since it was purchased brand new, is unacceptable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Batteries die way too fast, June 11, 2011

This review is from: 7.62 x 54R Caliber Cartridge Laser Bore Sighter for Mosin Nagant Rifles Boresighter (Misc.)
I honestly would not recommend this to anyone. Only reason is the batteries Die WAY too fast and it uses an expensive battery type. The sights were Way out on my Dragunov and needed a lot of adjustment. I would barley get the bore sight into the gun and the batteries would already be dieing, let alone trying to have time to adjust it any before they died. I found it a lot cheaper to just shoot the target and adjust it by where the round was going rather than going through battery $4 plus dollars of batteries for every adjustment on a sight that was way out.

i just wanted something to verify my 91/30 was sighted in from factory. which it verified for me. for the price i got the bore sighter for, worth it to me. only hiccup i have with it is it doesnt want to slide into bore with the bolt. for whatever reason, doesnt seem to line up. i only tinkered with it briefly so it could be user error on my part but was able to do it by hand. will come in handy if i decided to put a scope on the rifle. not a bad product for about $12. and for those who were wondering, it does come with the batteries. i didnt see it listed in the description so i had wondered myself. but the batteries ARE included. only had it on briefly to test product out so not sure on life of batteries.

2.0 out of 5 stars Battery contact issues, November 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 7.62 x 54R Caliber Cartridge Laser Bore Sighter for Mosin Nagant Rifles Boresighter (Misc.)
Like many other reviewers, I also have issues getting the batteries to properly make contact inside the case. The laser flickered on and off. I was able to make it work with aluminum foil, but the batteries must be removed and stored after use. Shipping took a while, and all in all this unit is not worth the hassle. To cheap to return, yet too costly to just toss and replace over such an issue. I would not buy another bore sight laser from GRG.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not at all horrible..., November 17, 2011

This review is from: 7.62 x 54R Caliber Cartridge Laser Bore Sighter for Mosin Nagant Rifles Boresighter (Misc.)
... but also not amazing. It is a fair price for a fairly usable product.

PROs:
The beam is bright enough to be seen at 50 yards on an overcast day.
The batteries lasted through the entire process.
The mount job I did required machining and shims and would have taken at least two range trips plus gas and ammo without this.

CONs:
You will have to mess with the batteries. What worked for me was removing the rubber piece from the cap.
In a Romanian PSL I had to cycle the boresight several times before it would seat completely.
The accuracy was off a bit. Rotating the boresight drew about a 6 inch circle at 50 yards.

CONCLUSION:
The product took some tinkering to make it usable, but in the end it put my first shot on the paper at 50 and saved me around $45 in range, rounds and gas. I'll take it!

Laser is weak. The spring is not strong enough to make good contact with the batteries. If you bump it it will go off and you have to reload the batteries to make it work again. You get what you pay for.
