I bought this book because I am an professional animal communicator and I have studied shamanism, but have not used shamanism in my practice. I was curious and also loved the title and the book.

I have been recomending this book to many of my students and friends. This book is so much fun. Each chapter is an amazing adventure with a new animal. The reader journeys with Carla to meet her teachers. The purpose of each journey is to help an animal and their person solve a problem, change a behavior, learn if it is their time to cross over or just understand the animals point of view.

Each case, or story, is an amazing adventure. The book was a very fast read, leaving me wanting more.

I recomend this book to anyone that has an animal companion, that likes animals and/or is interested in learning more about shamanism.

I am a holistic veterinarian and I have worked with Carla personally, for my own animals, and a lot of my clients have also used her with great success. Indeed a couple of my feline clients stories are told in this book, and I greatly enjoyed reading more about their inner lives and shamnistic journeys. Most intriguing!

This book has some wonderful and heart warming stories of animals and also some funny perspectives. I would highly recommend "The Calico Shaman" to anyhow who loves animals, and is interested in connecting with them at a deeper level.

The Calico Shaman is a great book that takes you behind the scenes into the fascinating work of Carla Person. Carla truly has the ability to communicate with animals and her stories will make you a believer. You will learn many things from this book. It is a great resource for anyone who has any kind of relationship with any animal!

This is NOT "another animal communication book". The stories are so rich in detail, meaning and symbolism and still manage to be both entertaining and informative. This is one that you will read over and over!

I purchased this book several months ago. When I first looked at it, I found the drawings crude and the writing simplistic. Now I am grieving the loss of my little girl cat, and I'm finding that this book speaks directly to my heart.

Once I kind of got in touch with this " other reality" through the first few stories, I found myself wanting to keep reading more. I was actually sorry the book came to an end because I was really interested in delving further into the Authors Samanic Journeys. If you love animals & are willing to open your heart & mind in order to listen to them on their terms then I think you'll learn much from these very rare & personal accounts by Carla Person. I also enjoyed the illustrations by Hillary Johnson, I'll probably fill the pictures in with crayons sometime when I find myself on a long flight between California & Maui!

Carla gives us a glimpse in Calico Shaman of that other world and the entities in it that make up the other reality that is so important to understanding the work. Its an enjoyable journey and a fun read. The most amazing thing is it at no time is what you expect.

I found this to be a difficult read and never finished the book. it just did not hold my interest.
