Calico Tales is a collection poems about cats that could be enjoyed by any cat lover (whether they think they like poetry or not). Some of my personal favorites include "Jump to the Moon" and "Promise" but there are many, many more. Betsy Stowe has captured the many facets of our relationships with our cats. The frosting on the cake are the beautiful black-and-white pictures of cats that are truly enchanting. I highly recommend this book for any cat lover. Buy it for yourself and get one as a gift for someone who loves cats. That someone will thank you!Kari Winters

Anyone who's ever lived with and loved cats will love this book too. Betsy captures the emotion and essence of cats in her fun, witty and insightful poetry. The photography is beautiful, a grayscale study of cats and their world. Betsy has received five awards for this book, quite an achievement:
- the 2004 World's Best Cat Litter(tm)-ary Award - a Muse MedallionT award from the Cat Writers' Association - two CWA Certificates of Excellence - a Communicator Award of Distinction It's quite a lovely book that would make the perfect gift for someone you know who loves cats, too.

This little book captures the heart of our relationship with our feline companions in poems and photographs. My personal favorites are "Direct Translation" and "Sleeping Cat," but each page touches on the joys, the frustrations and the bewilderment of living with these wonderful creatures, as well as the poignant sadness when they must leave us. A wonderful book to own or to give as a gift.
