About the Author
Arnold Small has been one of the leading California field ornithologists since moving to the state from New York in 1948. He was regional editor for American Birds for several years, is a past president of the Los Angeles Audubon Society, a founder and past president of the American Birding Association, and a long-time member of the American Ornithologists' Union.
Dr. Small received his education at the University of Southern California and City College of New York. In addition to his studies of California birds, he has traveled widely around the globe, and is generally acknowledged as one of the world's leading international birders.
