This worked well for my costume - a gladiator. It is a smaller shield with a double handle on the inside but worked well for me (a woman). It was lightweight but sturdy. I actually hit the sword on some tree branches during a hay ride and it didn't break and the paint did not chip. I like that I can slide the sword into the shield for storage.
