Product Description

The Vectron Blackhawk is a remote control UFO that hovers, dives and climbs with great ease. 4 years in development, it uses the latest US Air Force technology. -- The surrounding ring features an LED display into which you can program up to 4 separate 30 character messages. These can be changed while the Blackhawk is flying. Additional green LEDs run along the top and bottom of the ring. -- The UFO is tethered by a command line that sends the power and commands to the Blackhawk, eliminating the need for batteries. -- The command line can also be threaded through the docking station to your specified length which prevents the UFO from flying off out of control, so you can fly it safely even in the smallest of spaces! -- A training feature steps in to prevent crash damage making learning to fly the Blackhawk a piece of cake. Also features a Turbo mode that makes the controls more sensitive and an Autopilot mode that controls the Blackhawk sans hands. -- Approximate diameter 14" - the Vectron Blackhawk UFO plugs into mains power via an AC adaptor. No batteries are required. -- For ages 10+.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loads of noisy fun. Not for the easily frustrated!, November 28, 2003

This review is from: Vectron Blackhawk (Toy)
They call it a flying saucer, but quite plainly, it's a real, innovative helicopter that you can run indoors.

Imagine being able to fly a remote-control helicopter inside your own home. That's what you get with this remarkable high-tech toy. It is tethered (runs on a wire) so it won't get too for away from you, and so it can have a lot of power without being heavy. Other than that, it is a real, honest-to-goodness aircraft.

The controls take a couple of hours to get used to; it's very touchy. And with 3 propellers, it makes a fair amount of noise, though not enough to drive people crazy if you close the door. The challenge in learning to control it, and the fascination in running a real, hovering helicopter, are the fun here.

I'm not sure anyone will "Learn Things" by playing with this aircraft, but hey, it's fun! I wouldn't recommend it for small kids, as they will find it frustrating and their parents may feel it's a bit dangerous. For older kids and (ahem) somewhat nerdy grownups, a great choice. I bought one for myself, and would have been equally happy to have received one as a truly unusual present.
