This is an excellent cookbook just for the recipes, but when you combine the history, the varied locations, and the personalities it becomes a treasure. California's role in feeding the world is fairly well known and in this easy to read book you get to know some of the individuals and their products along with their favorite recipes which often have been handed down from one generation to the next. The California Farm Cookbook is an important book.
