Product Description

The Silverado's are retro styled metal and leather headphones that create an amazing audio high-end audio experience in a beautiful package. Our Natural Vocal Centered audio technology uses metal sound chambers with 40mm drivers to create a rich, punchy sound signature that brings the vocals to the front, makes acoustic guitars resonate, and snare drums pop! LA Times - "Part of the motivation behind California Headphone Co. is to move away from the current direction that over-ear headphones are going with plastic and bring back the higher-quality materials used in the 1940s and '50s." SF Gate - "The boom in the headphone business may have been fueled by a hip-hop beat, but a new player in the market is hoping to make a little noise with country and rock music." Hype Beast - "California Headphones has created an innovative set of metal and leather headphones acoustically tuned to deliver the best live concert audio experience. Tech Crunch - "These headphones are more than just looking the part...Califonia Headphones is onto something...I found the audio and build quality to exceed the norm at their respective price points."

I highly recommend them to anyone looking for great sound and don't mind, what is a fairly large headphone.

Like any feedback section you are going to get a slew of bitter reviews from people who enjoy taking something excellent and write lousy reviews about it because... they just like to watch the world burn. You also on the other hand have a handfull of folks who just love to love everything that they buy "Hey this is the best damn thing on the planet because I bought it!". Then there are folks like me who are generally apathetic about a product until it either A: It exceeds your expectations B: Stirs a sense of sypathy for those who wasted years of their lives in the development of a product that will do nothing but momentarily infuriate people...and then ultimately be cast into the garbage.

I am giving these headphones 5 stars because they are an absurd value for the 50$ price that I payed for them on amazon.
Not only are these headphones build like a tank but they isolate external ambient noise well and they sound great. I will spare you the diatribe about what headphones I have owned in my life and how they compare....and the elaborate stories how I am a self proclaimed Jedi Master Audiophile and the single most reputable/regarded source of 4th hand clandestine knowlege obtained from a sound engineer via his WIKI article. No....I am just a guy who has been enjoying rediscovering his music library and my own recordings ever since these "Cans (Audio-Dork term for headphones)" showed up on my doorstep. The Bass is substantial enough to present itself in a respectable manner and does not obliterate the rest of your track. The mids are smooth and the highs are pronouced but do not pierce. The sound and is well rounded and very well defined. The clarity of these headphones is great. They are fairly comfortable ...

Absolutely phenomenal. So great, that I bought a second pair as a backup (how crazy is that, right!). I enjoy alt, rock, pop music, and these headphones excel across the board. I use Bose QC15's for travel (which I consider top notch) and Monster Immersion for exercise (best for exercise), but I will always use the Silverado's whenever I need to take a "mini vacation" and let all my stress melt away. These phones have incredible sound stage, as if actually at a concert. Build quality is excellent. I fully expect these to last a very long time. BUY BUY BUY, you will NOT REGRET!

Okay, I'm a jazz musician and I've been playing trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn, with a little French horn thrown in, for most of my life (over 60 years), so being on stage that long I know what music should sound like and it's what you will hear through these spectacular headphones. I've owned a ton of headphones, ear buds, speakers, hifi rigs, home theater systems, etc., and I've NEVER heard music sound this good other than live. The most expensive speakers in the most high-end audiophile shops don't come close to sounding this good. These headphones are worth four times their list price of $225, but for FORTY-NINE BUCKS??? I'm sitting her listening and laughing at how amazing these things sound. Crystal clear... subtle notes not otherwise detectable by the human ear... incredible separation. OMG!!! I feel like I just installed a $50,000 stereo system in my home, and for FORTY-NINE DOLLARS??? I'm tempted to buy the remaining sets of these things in order to sell them to my friends, and if she'd wear them I'd get another set for my wife. I think I read where these were supposedly designed for rock music, but let me tell you... if you enjoy Chris Botti, Diana Krall, Sinatra, Stan Kenton, and anyone else you can think of who performs music from the American Song Book then you will TREASURE these headphones. Simply BY FAR the best I've ever heard. I'm really in disbelief how anyone can rate these superb headphones anything less than 5 stars. If I could I'd give them 10! Just the best that ever were or will be! Buy them NOW! You'll love them, too.

UPDATE: After having my wife listen to one of her Elton John CDs on these headphones she said, "Wow! You can get me a pair of these for Christmas!" So I did! Don't tell her. : )

I do really like these! There is a great full room sound, maybe I would call it reverb. I do like bass, even though I don't listen to a lot of bass like music. These have great, strong bass. I would call the mids and highs even better! Especially because they so good on top of the solid bass.

Fit is great, they are heavier than some plastic cans, but not overly. They are slightly heavier than a low end set of noise canceling ones I have. They fit firm, but not tight at all. I can't use on ear ones, so these work great. The leather is smooth and soft. The top head pad is good too (I am bald so I am a good judge). I am 6' 5" so I have a decent sized mellon. These fit me will, and I am not even in the middle setting. These could fit massive heads... think grizzly bear. I have heard you can even shape the top bar a bit because they are all metal so you won't break them.

Only slight complaint. They don't fold that flat. They don't rotate the cans to fit will in a messenger bag. They would likely fit in my backpack version of my computer bag, but they would fill most of the compartment. I actually leave them at work, so it ism't a big deal, but just know they are large. They do have a nice leather semi-hard case with a magnetic clip and a caribnear (spl?) clip. I guess you could clip outside the bag.

Overall, very good sound... I got for $49, so there is absolutely nothing close to these at that price. If you can get them close to $100 you better grab them. For the full $200 price, it might be a lot tougher comp... Though I could see them still coming in first.
