5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, September 12, 2009
This review is from: California Myth (Audio CD)
As a major Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan, I am glad to have found The Malibus. The feeling of fun and sunny optimism that the BB lost in their music after Pet Sounds is captured full force by Matt Tyson as the Malibus. In this, the 3rd cd, Matt has explored the ideas of the California Myth. Cars, sand, surf, and girls are all here mixed with rockin guitars, wailin saxes, and incredible multipart interwoven harmonies. All done extremely well. Covers BB/BW music styles throughout the sixties with a dash of 70's power pop. You could take any song here, plug it into it's appropriate era, and it would be a hit. Also carries a feel and pays tribute to other artists such as Bruce & Terry, Jan & Dean, Fantastic Baggys, Sunrays, and Phil Spector. An easy and fun listen. Pop it in and cruise!
