An excellent resource for elementary and middle school students studying native peoples of California. Each book has two parts: Part one gives a general overview of elements common to most native California tribes and is the same in each of the volumes, Part two gives specific information for the particular tribe noted in the book title. Reading levels for most of the books in the series are 3rd to 5th grade. If I were to suggest any improvement for this series it would be to include primary source photos where available, or additional illustrations. Overall, one of the only resources available for factual information on California native peoples.
