Editorial Reviews

"California Poppy" is a record that takes OPM back to their roots. Rooted in California, the band takes pride in what has influenced their lives and their music; and to dig deeper, the poppy is the root of OPM. The album features: Big B, Daddy X, Yelloman, Kaleo from Pepper, Jared and DJ Product of (hed) p.e. and Jim from Dumbluck. "California Poppy" was produced solely by John e. and Geoff at their studio MNO, located in the heart of Hollywood.

well i hate to inform folks but the album amazon is selling is a shortened album. they are offering an 11 track album when really its a 13 track album.

the track listing goes as follows:

1. Intro

2. For Tonight

3. Lion's Pride

4. Rock Me Slow

5. Love Don't

6. Somewhere (Further than the Valley)

7. Desire

8. Right Now

9. Leave 'em for Dead

10. Interlude

11. Voodoo Hex

12. That's the Sound

13. Born Again Virgin

and that is straight from the opmden ([...]) which is their site. just thought i would let people know of the alternate yet correct album to purchase. they are also selling their opmden EP which has the song eternity on it. it is a good album though, more towards the peaceful serene melodic sound. a repeat of previous albums would have been redundant. it is important to mix it up with new albums so the sound doesnt become repetitive. if you liked the stuff in menace to sobriety then listen to that for those kind of sounds. good album.

California Poppy is another fine album by OPM. I really like the more organic style, which showcases all of the band members musically. The only negatives about it is that it`s too heavy with the smooth laidback songs and lacks the really catchy songs like Rollin`, Heaven Is A Skatepark, and Perfect Day. I love the laidback mellow songs as much as any OPM fans, but California Poppy would`ve been better if it had more uptempo songs like Lion`s Pride and Born Again Virgin. Still regardless California Poppy is a very good album. If you`re into more funky, laidback music to chill to, then this album is for you.

I liked this album when it came out, but it has gotten even better with time. Its relaxing, mellow, and fun. I love that OPM didn't just spin another album of the same old stuff, they continue to experiment and push themselves foward.

I would buy it again.

Nice work. Songs like "Leave'em For Dead", "Somewhere" or "Rock me slow" are wonderful. Hear OPM and you feel better. I think one of the best album on suburbannoize!
