Just so you know my level of expertise -I am just starting to study for the California Real Estate Exam, so I'm true beginner. That being said, I've really found this book to be everything I wanted. It comes with 4 practice tests, the answers to all the tests (of course) and breaks down all the information into easy to understand sentences and paragraphs. I ended up making flash cards for each of the reference terms featured in bold print. I had my mother look over the book (she's a retired real estate agent) and she agreed this is certainly the book to get. I'd definitely recommend it! I'd also recommend buying this book with the California Real Estate Cliff Notes book Amazon has available. The Cliff notes has extra exams for practice! I looked at several books under this subject and am confident I made the right choice. Hope this was helpful!

I bought this book as I prepared for the California Real Estate Sales Exam. I found it extremely helpful and well put together. It also comes with a CD so you can have sample quizzes and extra help on the computer if you like. Before the exam I purchased this book and 2 others that had good reviews on Amazon. I felt that I only wanted to take the exam once and I wanted to pass. I recommend giving it a read through then taking the practice tests as much as you can.

What I noticed happen was that I found many of the questions on the California Real Estate Sales Exam but they were either rewritten or changed. Because I knew the answer I was able to understand the new question and answer correctly. The CD is also a great source for even more questions. It is also good to start getting in the mode of answering quiz style questions.

Pros: great help for the California Real Estate Sales Exam, sample quizzes are great, CD

Cons: Sample quizzes don't match real exam but are very similar, may want two study books

The third edition book is also very good and the software graphics have been much improved. The only problem that I have found is that some computers do not have enough memory to run the 3rd edition program. You can create your own exam by choosing the subjects to be tested, and how many questions you want in each area. This works with either the 2nd or 3rd edition software programs. You can choose what exam topics you want to study and this helps to reinforce your learning.

Both programs can keep track of your exam scores, and evaluate each of the categories. You may choose to have the exam questions electronically shuffled, to help keep the material fresh longer. You can go to exam history and retake any previous exam completely, or you may choose to retake just the questions that you missed. You may also stop your exam and continue it later (save it). The book is full of good information, but won't teach you to pass the test. Your better off taking a class offered by a school.
