5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
With the demise of past hard-core heroes such as the Bad Brains and Cro-Mags, Sick of it All are now the reigning kings. They seem to tighten up, get more wild, and write catchier melodies each album, this one being their best. Next to SOIA, bands like Earth Crisis and Hatebreed seem very week and juvenille. SOIA have really got it together and it shows on this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Weak When Compared To the Rest
As catchy as some of the songs on this album are, the sad truth is "Call To Arms" is incredibly weak when compared to other releases by Sick Of It All. Their best work, that I've heard (I don't have any of their OLD old stuff) was easily on "Scratch The Surface," and prolly "Built To Last." Although "Built..." also had a sound...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sick of it All -- Bringing it back to the old school!, February 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Call to Arms (Audio CD)
When "Built to Last" was released, many people were disappointed in the direction SOIA was going musically. Many songs on "Built to Last" were more melodious than their usual stuff, and that left a lot of fans disappointed (I for one, LOVED "Built to Last"). "Call to Arms" brings back the chaos of Sick of it Alls earlier releases. It also incorporates the heaviness of "Scratch the Surface". This CD, in my opionion, is their craziest release to date. Fast, to the point (most songs are less than 2 minutes long), and heavy music from the worlds best hardcore band.

4.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Fat Wreck Chords!, August 24, 2000

Ironically the album that gets an average 4 star rating from Amazon Customers is the album I like the least out of all their albums. It took a while for this album to grow on me which NEVER happens with A Sick Of It All album but after a lot of listens and more of an open mind I've come to like this CD a lot more then I did when it first came out. Musically Sick Of It All Progresses even further with this cd while keeping some of the classic elements from earlier albums in tact. Their video for "Potential For A Fall" is another classic video produced by the band and my favorite track on the CD. Other highlights include, Let Go, Falter, Falling Apart, Quiet Man, Sanctuary, Call To Arms and Just(A Patsy). Definitely worth a purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Chaos personified, April 25, 2000
This review is from: Call to Arms (Audio CD)
I was hoping that this record would not sound like Built to Last. Thankfully it did not. This record is shear Choas, with nothing held back, lyrically or musically. It makes you want to start a mosh pit in your bedroom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sick Of It All - 'Call To Arms' (Fat Wreck Chords), August 20, 2009
This review is from: Call to Arms (Audio CD)
Good late '90's release by the long running hardcore band. Haven't heard a Sick Of it All CD in ages, as I know I saw them several years ago playing a dive in the midwest. Tunes here that did the most for me were "Let Go", the insane "Potential For A Fall", "Morally Confused" and "Pass The Buck". As I spinned this disc a second time, I happen to notice that Lou Koller's intense vocals really serves it's purpose well. Fans of Cro-Mags, Rise Against, D.R.I. and Agnostic Front will likely get the most out of this and other Sick Of It All titles. Should listen to more of their catalog, but as I've pointed out before - simply too many genres, let alone bands.

As catchy as some of the songs on this album are, the sad truth is "Call To Arms" is incredibly weak when compared to other releases by Sick Of It All. Their best work, that I've heard (I don't have any of their OLD old stuff) was easily on "Scratch The Surface," and prolly "Built To Last." Although "Built..." also had a sound that was more poppy, as this one did, it kept a harder edge that reminded me of "Scratch..." or "Yours Truly" one of their later albums. Still better than most of the wannabe-hardcore crap you hear on Epitaph and Fat, but considering the bands history, "Call To Arms" was one helluva letdown. I still pop it in every now and again, but its been awfully hard for this album to win me over when they have so much better music out there already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too hardcore for its own good, June 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Call to Arms (Audio CD)
If you like the more old-school style of hardcore, this is a must. When I first heard "Potential for a fall", I knew this was an album i had to get. You also get "Just a patsy", which is another awesome songs, but don't think that these are the only two good songs, this whole album is amazing. The bass sound is awesome, the drums are great, and theres lots of classic hardcore back-up yelling courtesy of craig (bass) and pete (guitar). Best of all, this album isn't over produced like how hatebreed ends up sounding like pantera, while still remaining perfectly clear sounding. This is the album that got me into hardcore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old School..., July 8, 1999
This review is from: Call to Arms (Audio CD)
This is the comeback of the true old school sound combined with the "Built To Last" sounds. A must have for any HC fan.
