5.0 out of 5 stars Commies, Zombies and Copters (OH MY!)
i just finished the easiest version of the game and am currently replaying it on medium. You spend the majority of the game as Michael Shaw (this is my first c.o.d. game, so maybe you always play as him) a u.s. black ops sergant, i believe. you fight in many farmiliar locations (cuba, russia, afganistan, vietnam) and preform a variety of missions, from flying through the...

3.0 out of 5 stars call of duty black ops
I bought this game from bowtie and it got to my house pretty quick. But once i opened it and played it i soon realized that it was some sort of pirated version and I was unable to climb ladders so i could not finish the training mission or even the first level. I returned the game to bowtie and I had my money back with in 2 days. So i guess they did a satisfactory job. If...

i just finished the easiest version of the game and am currently replaying it on medium. You spend the majority of the game as Michael Shaw (this is my first c.o.d. game, so maybe you always play as him) a u.s. black ops sergant, i believe. you fight in many farmiliar locations (cuba, russia, afganistan, vietnam) and preform a variety of missions, from flying through the jungle to bomb a communist encampment, to destroying a russian submarine. there is also a small part of the game where you play as a russian solider (forget the name) and battle soliders in afganistan. The game takes place in the sixties,of course, in the cold war era.
so yeah.... flight and ground missions make this a very entertaining, if rather quick, game.
as for the zombies comment, there are sections of the game where you can play as a solider fighting against nazi (or perhaps communist) zombies. its not as if there is a plot.... its just a fun survival minigame.
im exactly thirteen, i am a boy and i enjoyed this game.
i wouldnt reccomend it for anyone younger than thirteen though; there are lots of screams of wounded dudes.
there is no blood.

5.0 out of 5 stars My kids love it, January 12, 2011

Buying this rated T game for the Nintendo DS was my concession to my 8- and 10- yr old boys who play Call of Duty Black Ops at their friends' houses on the Xbox, which I understand is a rated M game. They play their new DS game all the time and have told me they love it. I am content that at least the level of violence is decreased to a rated T level for this game, and they are happy that at least they get to play Black Ops.

5.0 out of 5 stars n-Space has done it again!, March 11, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Video Game)
After last year's somewhat disappointing (at least to me) Modern Warfare: Mobilized, we get an awsome, well-made FPS. With the Cold War setting, you can expect a different type of gameplay, and here's what you get:

Story- 7/10 If you have happened to play any past installments of Call of Duty on the DS, you will notice that n-Space isn't the best at creating storylines. Not that this is a problem, but it's nice to have some sense of suspense in a game. Black Ops DS has a decent storyline, though, that is enough to give the game some structure, but I hope that future DS installments will have better ones.

Gameplay- 9.5/10 Gameplay hasn't changed from the same addicting combat. You won't be disappointed.

Improvements- 10/10 Returning players will notice many differences in the interface and engine from the other DS Call of Duty games. One major one is the inclusion of a button control-scheme. Another is weapon recoil. This is beginning to prove what the DS can do, and you'll be suprised at what was pulled-off in this game.

Multiplayer- 10/10 Black Ops DS features much more customization than previous titles, allowing the player to choose two weapons and two perks. Some weapons now feature attachments, which is neat although limited. Don't be so eager to play over Wi-Fi, because its a wasteland of campers and noobs who use Action Replay. Other than that gripe, multiplayer is extremely enjoyable.

Other- 9/10 The new Zombie Mode is fun yet difficult, but enough practice (or with a friend), you will find it entertaining.

Overall- 10/10 Black Ops DS will not disappoint you, and hopefully this year's DS CoD (if there will be one) will improve some of the minor problems I had. Other than that, enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for Older kids, December 27, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Video Game)
My kids really wanted Call of Duty Black Ops. I saw this DS version had a Teen rating, so I bought 2 copies so our kids could play against each other. One is 10, the other is 13.

The 13 year old likes it alot. I as a mom enjoy playing it too. The 10-year old is starting to get the hang of the controls.

Update 1/10/11: Take seriously the T for Teen. There is only one cooperative mode which is zombie mode. All other battles are man against man. The 10 year old takes the battle too seriously and gets mad when he "dies." It has caused some hard feelings against his brother which subside and then he wants to play again. It's like a vicious cycle, so I've taken the game from him.

I still think this game is done well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Fun if You Don't have the Console Version the Best So Far, April 16, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Video Game)
This is one of the best COD games for DS and one of the best games for DS (Only Pokemon is better) It has zombies although there are glitches in zombies and another thing I hate about zombies is that it is hard to survive taking 1 hit from a zombie to die. It is also very fun to play Online and story mode is the best! I love this game and I play it everyday and my ally code is: 270911110267

5.0 out of 5 stars Call of Duty Black Ops, October 10, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Video Game)
This game was pretty awesome. The dude who could not climb the latters didn't know that you were supposed to press the up button when you climb it. You go to Cuba, Russia, Vietnam, and Afganastan. The only blood in the game is when you kill them with a knife and its just like a square of blood and its not pouring out of him. It took me three weeks to beat the level "Coastal Run" were you are supposed to take the beach. It takes place in 1967 and 1968. If you hade a choice to get it for DS or Wii, get it for DS. I hope they make a 2nd one. Peace:).
