3.0 out of 5 stars realistic, but not perfect
I bought this game becuase my local bestbuy has it featured in a poster, and I thought it would be a good choice for on-line play. Honestly, I think this game is realistic enough, and the graphics are such that if you viewed it from a distance from your tv, it looks like a top-notch war-movie. = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
I was a Medal of Honor fan so my expectations were low, but Call of Duty Finest Hour has renewed my excitement for the WW2 FPS. From the Heart-pounding first moments entering the battle of Stalingrad to the triumphant crossing of the Rhine, the epic experience hooked me into an all night War to defeat the Nazis. The graphics are amazing and the sound is fantastic. What I really enjoyed, was playing different kinds of soldiers in diverse locations like Africa and Russia. The control was superior to the last Medal of Honor release and the characters were much more interesting. If this is the first game for Spark, I look forward to seeing what they come up with next! Tally Ho!

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes You Think, December 15, 2004
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
I think this is a very fine game, its not an easy one and no cheat codes are up yet that I know about, so you,re on your own.
At that point basic combat tactics soon become obvious if you are to survive.
The graphics are very nice, play is active and exciting, its really a very good game, hope this company starts putting out more games, they did a really find job.
As far as EA games MOH, they are two different entities, EA games MOH you get a break, cheat codes, lots of on line info, but for a first time the makers of Call Of Duty did well.
Like others, I find the major irritation factor is getting almost finished and then getting killed and having to start the level all over again, these are not easy levels.
Being a stundent of WWII history, it seems that there was a lot of research put into this game, really shows.
So to briefly sum it up, its not perfect, but it still is excellent, I give this a 5+

Honestly, I think this game is realistic enough, and the graphics are such that if you viewed it from a distance from your tv, it looks like a top-notch war-movie. A good feature of this game is that it let take up your rifle and aim down the sight, and release it as you lift the trigger, this provides much action and realism.

too few checkpoints, granades hit you too easily, damage effect very annoying, otherwise, ok game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this game., November 26, 2004
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
This game is nothing like the Call of Duty for pc. There is no D-Day or running through Stalingrad. I remember trying to secure a building but I kept on getting killed by my own tanks. It has some of the worst A.I. that ive seen in a game. Every time the enemy shoots they seem to hit you even if you're crouching, running and sometimes even behind what seems to be perfectly safe cover. The Nazis charge at you like madmen. Shooting them in the stomach, legs, or other appendages should wound them but, oh yeah, they cant be wounded only killed. I gave the game two stars for the graphics and game designing. Its hard to believe that the best WWII FPS for pc would turn out to be one of the worst games for X-Box. This was by far my worst purchase ever.

Get the PC version instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!, September 16, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
This game kicks ass, it is so much better than all the other FPS WWII games on the xbox. The graphics rock, sounds excellent and gameplay never gets old.
The weapons are realistic, squad mates do work, and all tank missions are fun.
The main game is hard at first until you get used to it (the key is laying down and shooting no matter where you are) and xbox live rocks because everygame i join i come in first place, even when its been going on for 20 mins.
Pros: fun levels, fun weapons, fun game.
Cons: Controls are different, i am used to Halo.

Buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST WORLD WAR II SHOOTER EVER!!!!!!!, March 4, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
This game is awesome! Fans of Medal of Honor, this game is a must-buy. The graphics in this game are fabulous, very well designed. The gameplay in this is easily the best part of the game. Each mission is designed in its own unique way, and they do not get repetitive, like MOH games sometimes do. The sound, what can I say. Maybe just AWESOME!!!! Without the sound, I would of easily rated this game a four. The music makes the game, especially in intense fights where you're always behind cover firing at the enemy.

The levels vary throughout the game. Also, you get to play as Russian, British, and American soldiers (the American are the best). Throughout the game, you will have to do various things such as provide tank escorts, snipe away Germans, travel through large towns that are swarming with Germans, blow up German anti-tank armour, blow up old buildings, conquer a bridge that is infested with Germans, shoot down enemy aircraft, and the list goes on & on. The tank controls can be a little tricky at first, but you'll catch on after a while. I'll address this too. Many gamers complain about COD because of the lack of checkpoints. This game does get frustrating occasionally because you have to keep replaying levels due to lack of checkpoints. But when you get this game, you cannot go out there like on Halo and just run into the middle of a whole bunch of Germans. Sorry, but humans are not made of steel like masterchief. What you have to do is use the environment to your advantage; hide behind blown up tanks, crawl under some rubble of a blown up building, hide behind a building and shoot around the corner of it without revealing your body (which comes in handy so much in the game), and anything else you can use. That is one of the main reasons why I like this game so much, is you have to use strategy sometimes (opposite halo where you can run into the middle of a dozen grunts and stand there without getting killed).

World War II fans, all I can say is that this game is AWESOME and you should add it on your shelf alongside all your Medal of Honor games.

I picked up the game yesterday. The graphics are well done and the story line is pretty interesting- you assume different roles as you progress. There is a good variety of weapons and a lot of different landscapes. It doesn't have the same liquid flow as Halo( The x-box benchmark) but its no slug either. I'd say it is worth the money so far since my interest level is still high and I'm still having a great time with it!

1.0 out of 5 stars PC Call Of Duty is WAY BETTER! Finest Hour = Dissapointment!, April 29, 2005

Activision should've reconsidered before hiring a game company like Spark Limited to ruin a whole epic. Why couldn't they hire Infinity Ward?

If you are a Call Of Duty crazer, avoid this. This game is more like designed by an un-skillful ametur company. Even if you see a teaser trailer of the actual game footage, they create a diversion to gimmick. The intro movie in the game has got nothing to do with the game at all.

Good things:

None.

Bad things:

Plenty you'll find them in Call Of Duty: Fines Hour. The modelling and graphics are rushed, and a few number of weapons are missing from the PC version - weapons omitted from the release like the MP44, and all the pistols are gone, and only one rocket launcher which is the Panzershrek. All the classic weapons from the original PC release isn't included.

Next downside point..tight aiming. The feel of the weapon your holding is absolutely a shocker. You can't even aim correctly at a far German - it will move too fast causing you to waste time and get asassinated. Comparing this to the PC version, aiming with the mouse is easier to use.

Why can't we not forget? Saving during missions. Guess what, there is no saving ability during missions and you can only save after a mission. PC Call of Duty has a in-mission saving ability, incase if you get stuck on something. Finest Hour doesn't - every time you die, you have to start sorrowly from the beginning all over again (back to square one), and builds up frustration.

Thirdly is the looping music. Ripped from the MP3 music from the PC version, but causes continuous looping at a point. Michael Giacchino deserves better than this.

And yes, it takes forever bloody hits to finally kill a German and it's unrealistic. If you shoot an enemy in the head on the PC Call of Duty then the enemy dies instantly. You won't see it happen on Finest Hour.

So sad, Spark Unlimited, get to learn how to program games, so sad.

2.0 out of 5 stars Your Call of Duty.... don't buy this x-box version, January 3, 2005
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
Most of the reviews I've read sum it up. Something got lost in the transition from the PC to the X-Box. The A.I. is terrible, the multiplayer is terrible, various option selections are terrible, and the game itself is full of all sorts of wierd bugs and glitches. It's sad to see such an awsome PC game with such console potential wind up being the next sequel in the Medal of Honor series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good game but not worth the price of 50 bucks, June 15, 2006

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty Finest Hour (Video Game)
This game is a game I picked up at gamestop when i was in need of a game. I think i got it for 20 dollars. This game is a good game to play but i would not have payed more than 20 dollars for it, its just not worth that kind of money.

The story of course is based on WW2 so there isnt much to explain about it. The cinematechs are just old clips of ww2 events with some guy talking in the background explaining the event and then you play the event. It doesnt really bring you into the game all that well.

The gameplay is probly the strongest quality of the game. IT really brings you the aspect of being in a world war. The only problem is the game is really short, too short to be exact. Also the gameplay didnt really have that much detail. The weapons are the usual world war 2 weapons, I still hate the crap loading but I mean if they had to deal with it back then i guess we should play with it. Sadly it has no multiplayer except for live, I would have really liked to see a co-op mulitplayer. The levels in the game were good but then again the levels were short and the missions were'nt that hard to complete. The gameplay though did have a lot of stuff going on at once which is a great feature. I mean you would see a plane come across drop a bomb while a tank shoots down a building while grenades are flying off cement walls and thousands of people running for cover from a turret......its pretty sweet. I believe the beginning of the game is by far the best when you are the russians. It has the most fun levels with that sort of craziness. As the game goes on it starts to get boring especially when you hit the part in the game where u play as the united states, I would think they would make this part the most fun, but you do the boring missions in that part of the game, it gets really boring.

The graphics could have been a lot better in my aspect. IF the graphics were good the game would have jumped to a 4 overall for me. The sound in the game is good and there is always sounds of people and your men screaming. In suround sound its beastly.

Overall this game could have been a lot better, it is def not worth more than 20 bucks and it only keeps you occupied for a little bit cause then it gets boring. Another thing that really annoys me is if a game has a really boring main menu screen, it pisses me off cause then i dont feel like playing and this game has a really boring menu screen. The gameplay though does get boring as you go through the game and I'm still so bored of the gameplay that i never bought the second one and I probly wont buy the third one for ps3.
