Outnumbered and Outgunned, but Not Outmatched

Call of Duty: Ghosts is an extraordinary step forward for one of the largest entertainment franchises of all-time. This new chapter in the Call of Duty franchise features a new dynamic where players are on the side of a crippled nation fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive. Fueling this all new Call of Duty experience, the franchise’s new next-gen engine delivers stunning levels of immersion and performance, all while maintaining the speed and fluidity of 60 frames-per-second across all platforms.

Single Player Campaign

Ten years after a devastating mass event, America’s borders and the balance of global power have changed forever. As what’s left of the nation’s Special Operations forces, a mysterious group known only as “Ghosts” leads the fight back against a newly emerged, technologically-superior global power. A New Call of Duty Universe: For the first time in franchise history, players will take on the underdog role with Call of Duty: Ghosts; outnumbered and outgunned, players must fight to reclaim a fallen nation in an intensely personal narrative. Gamers will get to know an entirely new cast of characters and visit locales in a changed world unlike anything seen in Call of Duty before.

Multiplayer

In Call of Duty: Ghosts you don’t just create a class, you create a soldier, a first for the franchise. In the new Create-A-Soldier system, players can change the physical appearance of their soldier by choosing the head, body type, head-gear and equipment, and for the first time in a Call of Duty game, the player can also choose their gender. With 20,000 possible combinations, this is the most flexible and comprehensive character customization in Call of Duty history. New dynamic maps are the evolution of multiplayer. They include interactive elements and player triggered events that make the environment evolve as each match goes on. The entire landscape can shift and force players to change tactics and strategies. Call of Duty: Ghosts introduces new tactical player movements. The new contextual lean system now allows players to lean around obstacles without adding button combinations or fully leaving cover. The new mantling system allows fluid movement over objects, while maintaining momentum. The knee slide allows for a natural transition from sprinting crouching to prone. Call of Duty: Ghosts delivers over 20 NEW Kill Streaks in Call of Duty: Ghosts - such as Juggernaut Maniac, the Helo Scout, the Vulture and the ODIN Strike. Players can even bring in guard dog Riley, from the single-player campaign, to protect and also to attack enemies. There are also over 30 NEW weapons, including an entirely new weapon class: Marksman Rifles.

Squads

Build your team and take up to 6 of them into battle in the all new Squads mode. This mode takes the best parts of the multiplayer experience and allows you to play either solo or cooperatively with the custom soldiers created and leveled up in multiplayer. The load-out choices you make for your Squad members will directly change the AI behavior of your squad-mates. Give your soldier a sniper rifle and he’ll behave like a sniper, and an SMG guy will be more run and gun.

Extinction

A completely new one to four player, co-op game mode featuring a unique blend of fast-paced survival gameplay, base defense, player customization and class leveling. Teamwork and communication are essential when playing Extinction, as your team faces an inhuman menace that has overrun an isolated Colorado town and you must eliminate the threat via any means necessary.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rent it. February 4, 2014
Platform for Display:Xbox One| Edition:Hardened|Verified Purchase
My least favorite COD multiplayer.

I did the campaign twice, once on easy and once on veteran for all the achievements. The campaign was pretty decent, but also pretty short.

Multiplayer. There is always a learning curve to a new game. This game has huge maps and feels like hardcore mode on BO2. You die instantly. Conversely you have to shoot them longer than it feels like they shoot you to get a kill. It's doable though.

What is disappointing are the large camping maps where you can't find anybody for 30 seconds. When you do they are set up in a corner ASD at the doorway. Awesome........

The sounds aren't good in Multiplayer, guns sound weak and flat.

The colors are just as drab as MW3 making it uninteresting to look at most maps. Hard to spot enemies as well. You get used to this, but it feels drab compared to BO2.

There is no indication of your connection in the game. You can't tell what ping your search went to before it found a lobby or tell how many " Bars " you have. You just have to start playing to see if it is a good or bad connection to host.

Dedicated servers are a bit like Bigfoot or Unicorns. Imaginary, fleeting creatures that would be cool but don't exist.

Just rent the game. The campaign is cool but you won't play it any longer than it takes you to get the achievements.
Multiplayer is what COD is all about and this COD doesn't deliver especially on a new console release.

On the other hand I'm having fun with Assassins Creed Black Flag.

3.0 out of 5 stars a series which is loved and hated by everyone October 19, 2014

Call of duty, a series which is loved and hated by everyone. Ghosts is a good game, the players however drag this game down into oblivion. The graphics are okay, you can tell not a lot of work went into the graphics. They get the job done but that's about it. The sounds are very well done, game sounds great on a surround sound system. The guns are pretty good, Assault rifles are viable again. Black ops 2 had you using sub machine a lot, which are good in the DLC maps but the regular maps assault rifles win out no doubt. The regular maps are decent, some of them are pretty big which does not equal fun when your being killed by campers and snipers all the time. A huge majority of the population camps in this game so you will die a lot unless your an MLG player or famous you tuber. But if your just a decent player like me going 15 and 6 makes you feel pretty beast. The netcode and hit detection is amazing so it feels like you get melted when in reality you really don't. All in all Ghosts is a good game, a little uninspired but good all the same i give it a 3 out of 5.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor Design Decisions Ruin Your Fun January 10, 2014
By SF
Platform for Display:Xbox One| Edition:Hardened|Verified Purchase
The gameplay is great and some of the maps are huge compared to other COD games. The graphics are good, but not up to the "NextGen" hype. My main gripe is the local multi-player. Two of us like to play split screen Squads. Some genius decided that players should be forced to create a new soldier (loadout) every single time they want to play a local game of Squads. Imagine, the first 15 minutes of "gameplay" involves being forced to set up your loadouts or watching the other guy set up his. And if you don't want to be a girl, well then you don't get your loadouts at all because if you change your character model you lose EVERYTHING. In other COD games, you select a loadout and it's yours until you change it. So little consideration is given to players who like to play locally that it actually feels like they did it on purpose because they don't want people to play locally. I bet whoever made this design decision actually hates players who play locally and decided to punish us. No matter how "good" a future COD game is supposed to be, this will be the last one I own of this franchise unless they fix this one. How can they expect us to support them if they show they don't care? If you like to play locally, I would recommend sticking with the previous versions. I play online too, but in my circumstances the local play is a HUGE part of the way we play the game that I purchased and if the developers don't care about us then we just won't buy their product(s) ever again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game, lousy online gamers. January 12, 2014
By Chad
Platform for Display:Xbox One| Edition:Hardened|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed playing and beating this game. I tried going to the online world to play with others and I am very disappointed. Nowdon't get me wrong I do not have time to sit down and play 12 hours out of the day,7 days a week. I work full time and go to school full time, I just wanted to have some fun and play with others, BTW I am 36 yrs old. I grew up with Nintendo, Nintendo360, PlayStation (ALL) systems so I am not new to gaming, but I just do not have the plethora of time to dedicate, like others. I was not treated very nice or welcomed I was cussed at, called a worthless piece of *@#*, pretty much harassed on a game. I did not let this get to me I simply turned it off and went about my day. I know some of you are saying "that is the way it is, dont go back" that is not the point, I pay (we all pay) to use the service I should not be verbally abused on a game that should be fun. The person could have helped me out and gave me some pointers so I am better next time! Everyone was "NEW" once. There should be someone monitoring this behavior so it does not ruin it for others. I am not sure I will return! I gave this game 5 stars because I enjoyed playing the game itself.
