Outnumbered and Outgunned, but Not Outmatched

Call of Duty: Ghosts is an extraordinary step forward for one of the largest entertainment franchises of all-time. This new chapter in the Call of Duty franchise features a new dynamic where players are on the side of a crippled nation fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive. Fueling this all new Call of Duty experience, the franchise’s new next-gen engine delivers stunning levels of immersion and performance, all while maintaining the speed and fluidity of 60 frames-per-second across all platforms.

Single Player Campaign

Ten years after a devastating mass event, America’s borders and the balance of global power have changed forever. As what’s left of the nation’s Special Operations forces, a mysterious group known only as “Ghosts” leads the fight back against a newly emerged, technologically-superior global power. A New Call of Duty Universe: For the first time in franchise history, players will take on the underdog role with Call of Duty: Ghosts; outnumbered and outgunned, players must fight to reclaim a fallen nation in an intensely personal narrative. Gamers will get to know an entirely new cast of characters and visit locales in a changed world unlike anything seen in Call of Duty before.

In Call of Duty: Ghosts you don’t just create a class, you create a soldier, a first for the franchise. In the new Create-A-Soldier system, players can change the physical appearance of their soldier by choosing the head, body type, head-gear and equipment, and for the first time in a Call of Duty game, the player can also choose their gender. With 20,000 possible combinations, this is the most flexible and comprehensive character customization in Call of Duty history. New dynamic maps are the evolution of multiplayer. They include interactive elements and player triggered events that make the environment evolve as each match goes on. The entire landscape can shift and force players to change tactics and strategies. Call of Duty: Ghosts introduces new tactical player movements. The new contextual lean system now allows players to lean around obstacles without adding button combinations or fully leaving cover. The new mantling system allows fluid movement over objects, while maintaining momentum. The knee slide allows for a natural transition from sprinting crouching to prone. Call of Duty: Ghosts delivers over 20 NEW Kill Streaks in Call of Duty: Ghosts - such as Juggernaut Maniac, the Helo Scout, the Vulture and the ODIN Strike. Players can even bring in guard dog Riley, from the single-player campaign, to protect and also to attack enemies. There are also over 30 NEW weapons, including an entirely new weapon class: Marksman Rifles.

Build your team and take up to 6 of them into battle in the all new Squads mode. This mode takes the best parts of the multiplayer experience and allows you to play either solo or cooperatively with the custom soldiers created and leveled up in multiplayer. The load-out choices you make for your Squad members will directly change the AI behavior of your squad-mates. Give your soldier a sniper rifle and he’ll behave like a sniper, and an SMG guy will be more run and gun.

A completely new one to four player, co-op game mode featuring a unique blend of fast-paced survival gameplay, base defense, player customization and class leveling. Teamwork and communication are essential when playing Extinction, as your team faces an inhuman menace that has overrun an isolated Colorado town and you must eliminate the threat via any means necessary.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Every year with Call of Duty I usually get the hardened edition. especially since they've been including the season pass (the season Pass gives you access to all the downloadable content or DLC for the year) because usually it's a savings. But this year the hardened edition is $10 more than buying the game at $60 and the season pass at $50. So unless you want the collectors edition boxes and things like that you probably should just go for them individually.

But I think Call of Duty Ghosts is a fun call of duty I usually enjoy Infinity Ward call of duty's more and this delivers in the modern warfare feel for the series. There are a lot of things you need to take note of though as they have revamped so many of the things that we were used to in previous iterations of the game.

One thing I want let you know your squad points are tokens you can earn while playing the game, completing challenges, winning matches etc. be very cautious how you spend these tokens and what you unlock with them as they are kind of a pain in the butt to earn and it sucks to drop a bunch of tokens on a really crappy piece of gear. I would recommend going into local multiplayer because all your gear is unlock there and you can try out everything before you spend your valuable tokens on them.

One last thing I have to say about call of duty ghosts is I really kind of think some of the maps are way too big. I mean some maps I spent 15 minutes in a game of Kill Confirmed and my team only collected 40 tags because we couldn't find the other team. And it really sucks that you can only play 6v6 whereas on the next generation of consoles they will be doing 9v9.

Thanks for reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Like the instant access to season pass December 16, 2013
By Matt
Platform for Display:Xbox 360| Edition:Hardened|Verified Purchase
The game is pretty good. The game still has lag issues like CODs in the past, but does not seem to be nearly as frequent or for as prolonged periods. Multi-player has a number of facets that beg you to vary your game play and your load outs, hence making you a more well rounded player.

As per the 'hardened' edition. The bracelet it comers with is basically useless to me as I will never wear it (not my style). I may at some point throw it into my truck as part of my emergency kit and hope it sits there into eternity. The instant access to season pass is nice, although I worry I may miss out on some map packs if my pass runs out prior to all the map packs being released. Although I am uncertain of how the release procedure actually works, so i could be totally off base.

I am addicted to the game so there is really no complaints from me. Only reason I am giving it 4 stars is continued lag on the manufacturers part, and the thinking if they eliminated the bracelet and dropped the price by $10 it would have been a better value to me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Online multiplayer mode-1 Extinction Mode-Zip January 3, 2014
Platform for Display:Xbox 360| Edition:Hardened|Verified Purchase
The online multiplayer is dominated by campers and the spawn-killing runs wild. I've had on average 3 games of just me getting spawn-killed. But of course this is not something the game developers have control over. And lets move on to Extinction mode. That mode is a travesty in the history of 7th generation gaming. There are no round transitions, the directions are not explicitly driven and the Scorpion part seems to luterally never end. Hard to believe somebody has advanced through the Scorpion round when they just keep spawning. And once you beat the Scorpion part you can advance. But it never ends. I like the online mutiplayer customization options though. It really is 2 steps ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Good game overall but rusty in the places it shouldn't be.

Great game and great series!!! The only thing I do not like is having to re-buy weapons between characters. The active environments are awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars Only things that's missing is the manual November 6, 2013
By Byron
Platform for Display:Xbox 360| Edition:Hardened|Verified Purchase
This will be a long, disjointed review. I like it better than Black Ops 2 (which is saying something) and 1000x more than MW3 (which isn't saying anything).

I bought Arkham Origins, GTA5, AND Assasin's Creed:Black Flag in recent weeks. They are all going to be shelved for months while I play this game. LOVE IT!

Minus 1 star for no manual. I want a manual included.

The package itself is awesome. Was a little confused at which disc to install and play off of, but figured it out (I'll leave that fun to you). Quick to boot up. Fairly quick to get into a game. Coming from Black Ops 2, took me a bit to figure out how best to configure my soldier.

I don't EVER play the single player part, so all those locked characters you can choose from that are blacked out... I don't know who is what there.

The action is crazy as ever. More "realistic" as you don't have a pack of 8 dogs rampaging around. No spy planes to shoot down.

You can lean again, which is nice. The Clan thing, I signed up for one online, and then ingame its not there.

Not having a instruction manual was not helpful at all. Bought the Kindle version of the Guide and doesn't work on my computer... YAY?

Much larger, mult-layered maps. Games last longer as a result.

Graphics are still just so/so.

Gameplay is fun as usual. All kinds of attachments, and scopes, and sights, etc.

So if it'd had an acutal manual (and at $119 you think you could expect that?).

The squads things to train with is nice, but I want my stats and XP to count, so going up against bots doesn't do it for me.

None of my friends play at the same time (or that I can count on anyway), so the Clan thing is lost on me.
