5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best Call of Duty soundtrack?
When I had heard that Hans Zimmer was doing the music to Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009 I was very excited. I've always enjoyed Hans work and he did not disappoint with MW2. Brian Tyler's MW3 effort falls far short. There's no central theme - just lots of noise.

I can count on one hand the number of memorable tracks - "Battle for New York", "I Stand Alone", "Heroes." The rest is just generic loud first-person-shooter music.

If you're a fan of Modern Warfare, get those three tracks. The rest is just mindless noise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best Call of Duty soundtrack?, November 8, 2011

When I had heard that Hans Zimmer was doing the music to Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009 I was very excited. I've always enjoyed Hans work and he did not disappoint with MW2. I was hoping Hans would work on Modern Warfare 3, but then found out that Brian Tyler was doing the score. Having heard his score to Battle: Los Angeles, which I enjoyed, I had hope that his score to MW3 would be just as good. I was not disappointed. This score is amazing!

The nice thing about this score is that the tracks are a lot longer. Some tracks are close to 7 minutes long compared to MW2's 2 or 3 minute tracks. I was afraid that Battle: LA and MW3 would sound similar and I can't spot anything that sounds like Battle: LA or anything from past Modern Warfare games. This score also has some very catchy tunes, and I think this is the best Call of Duty soundtrack to date. Yes, it is even better than Hans Zimmer's work. There is still some of that rock feel in this score with the guitars and drums that was heard in Black ops but you can still hear that great orchestra. This may be one of Brian Tyler's best works yet.

Overall, this is a must have for any score music lover (even if you don't like Call of Duty). I haven't played the game yet, but I can't wait to hear this score while playing the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a Fun Game!, January 20, 2012

I have played Modern Warfare 1,2, and 3 and I do consider 3 to be the best one out of the series. Every game introduced built onto the last game and the last in the series has definitely proven to be worth the money. Every time I sign on, I enjoy each and every single new feature included. This soundtrack was a good price, and I LOVE listening to it through my xbox hard drive when I'm playing spec ops, survival, and even when I'm just chilling online!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, November 8, 2011

Any fan of film or game music should buy this. I was blown away. I am a fan of the CoD:MW2 soundtrack but this is another level. The orchestration sounds incredible and the themes are amazing. I have never heard gaming music sound this epic in a way that reminds me of Lord of the Rings but wrapped in a more modern style. The Russian music is exceptional and the Prague theme is very catchy. Also check out Arabian End Game. That is on endless repeat on my computer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, November 13, 2011
This review is from: Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MP3 Download)
Firstly, Brian Tyler is one of my favorite film composers, so even after hearing Zimmer was no longer composing this entry in the Modern Warfare family, I was hopeful Tyler would deliver. I was hopeful Tyler would continue the hard-pumping, heroic and warfare-like mentality soldiers experience on the battlefield; through music of course.

After listening to four or so tracks, I began to wonder what exactly I was listening to. The themes didn't resonate with anything I'm used to, when it comes to instrumental themes for the military. The theme or should I say themes, that actually delivered on my expectations were "Call of Duty: MW3" as well as "MW3 End Credits."

When I heard those two themes, I was anticipating more of them, but they never arrived. I know what Tyler is capable of; heck, I've listened to the score for Bangkok Dangerous over 1,000 times. What Tyler did on "Cristo Redentor" on Fast Five was pure magic; to the point I've listened to the theme 1,179 times in iTunes. And "Neela Drifts" from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift...forget about it. Tyler has immense talent, but I was completely underwhelmed with the direction he took for Modern Warfare 3. One of my most anticipated video game soundtracks this year, turned out to be the one delivering the most disappointment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sorry - But my son prefers the soundtrack to MW2, November 29, 2011

As good as I am sure this soundtrack is, I noticed that it lacked the sonic depth, drama and dynamics of MW2. I am not a gamer, but did get the soundtrack (somehow) from MW2

for my son and it is a masterpiece - period. Listening to it in the car can get you in trouble for a variety of reasons! The MW3 soundtrack is melodramatic and lacks the emotional

teeth of MW2. On paper it seems the composer did everything right, drums, strings, all that stuff - but it just doesn't get you in the gut and spur your imagination and inspire

you. It doesn't make your stomach feel funny with anticipation or fill you with rage and power. The MW2 soundtrack is a masterpiece and this soundtrack is a piece.....

1.0 out of 5 stars Not very momorable and big come down from Hans Zimmer in MW2, November 14, 2011

After the great work that Hans Zimmer had done for the previous game and Harry Gregson-Williams in COD4 I was really expecting some memorable and iconic themes for MW3, especially considering it was to be a final part of the trilogy and culmination of the storyline.

Hearing Zimmer wasn't working on this did worry me and this has proven to be correct, the music seems to follow the Black Ops style where the rock/metal influence creeps in and whilst this has been fine in other games after the great work done in MW2 including ethnic influences the music in MW3 falls flat and is forgettable.

I can't say that the music in MW3 helped to build drama and became generic, by the numbers shooter music that many other games and films use these days.

Considering Call of Duty is a globetrotting franchise with MW3 covering even more countries this time I expected some iconic and ethnically influenced tracks, this didn't and felt like a total let down compared to Hans Zimmer's MW2 soundtrack

3.0 out of 5 stars Stereotypical Michael Bay movie soundtrack, November 18, 2011
This review is from: Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MP3 Download)
Especially after having listened to Hans Zimmer's work on MW2, all I can say is "meh." Overall this soundtrack sounds contrived and repetitive. The track "Arabian End Game" is a blatant rip-off of "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin.
