Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is First-person Shooter rooted in a fictional, but ultra realistic near-future conflict of mostly American forces with those of the Russian Federation around the globe. The third installment in the Modern Warfare branch of the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 3 features a heavy focus on multiplayer gameplay which includes innovative new functionality that encourages multiple gameplay combat strategies, a new 2-player co-op option, new play modes, weapons and more. The game also includes a gripping single player campaign that picks up where Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 left off, and game integration with the Call of Duty: Elite online service.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to the previous game in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In the game's single player campaign Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov continues his manipulation of Russian Federation forces in their invasion of the United States and Europe. In their way stands characters like Task Force 141 Captain John "Soap" MacTavish, former SAS Captain John Price as well as new playable characters from Delta Force and the British SAS. Engage enemy forces in New York, Paris, Berlin and other attack sites across the globe. The world stands on the brink, and Makarov is intent on bringing civilization to its knees. In this darkest hour, are you willing to do what is necessary.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 delivers a multiplayer experience that continues to raise the bar by focusing on fast-paced, gun-on-gun combat, along with innovative features that support and enhance a large variety of play-styles. Now, you can truly define your approach with a toolkit more expansive than any previous title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Call of Duty title on the Wii November 9, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My review will focus on the multiplayer component of MW3, and I'll make my comparisons to Black Ops where appropriate.

As a fan of the Call of Duty series on the Wii - W@W, MW: Reflex, and Black Ops - I was really going to make this purchase no matter what, so maybe I'm a little biased. I enjoy these games (and first-person shooters in general) on the Wii as opposed to the Xbox 360 because I love the motion controls. Sure, the graphics on the Wii aren't as attractive, but that doesn't bother me because the motion controls make for a fun experience.

Now we have MW3. I must say that out of all the CoD games on the Wii, MW3 is hands-down the best one regarding multiplayer. The graphics of this game are noticeably better than those of its predecessors. I haven't played the Xbox 360 version, so I'm not sure whether some features, such as killstreaks, have been successfully carried over to the Wii. There are several new and interesting killstreaks, though. I can say that the levels are expansive and pretty nice looking at that, and the Wii version finally has emblems and titles. The Wii version, like the Xbox 360, also has the new weapon level-up system in which your weapons are able to gain experience points, thus enabling you to unlock valuable upgrades. It's a weird concept to level up a gun, but it allows for a deeper level of customization than ever before in a CoD title.

The motion controls work great, and they seem even more responsive in this game than in Black Ops. The same level of customization for controls is still present just as it is in the other CoD titles. Also, the Internet connection is stable, unlike that of Black Ops when it first came out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game..But can use some patches for the online MP November 9, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
UPDATE: I have about 6 days of play time. and there have been multiple patches since I wrote this review. The game plays very smoothly now

So I've played about 5-6 hours of this game in total. About 5 hours online, and about 1 hour on the campaign. and here is what I think of it so far.

The graphics look great for a wii game. Probably some of the better graphics on wii....not all of the game is pretty, but most of if it looks really nice, you can tell they put time into making this game look good. The gun models are really nice looking, and character models are better than black ops,the blood on-screen effect is great, fire effects are ok,grenade explosions look great. Just as long as you're not expecting Xbox360 or PS3 graphics, then you will probably not be disappointed. I've had fun playing online and the campaign, even if the graphics aren't like the hd consoles,it still feels epic.

As for the controls, I think they are great. They are basically the same as Black ops. You can choose to use the wii remote and nunchuk, or the classic controller pro. I prefer the wii mote,it feels much faster to me. For anyone trying out cod for the first time on wii, just know that you can adjust the wii remote settings to just about anything, you can choose some of the layouts already pre made or you can customize the buttons to be whatever you'd like. You can also tweak the camera speed and sensitivity

So here is the kinda bad part....Even though the multiplayer is filled with so many good game modes, weapons, etc. The hit detection is... a bit off(read my update at the bottom). If you have played modern warfare reflex,it's a bit comparable. If you have gotten used to the hit detection from Black Ops wii, this might be a big noticeable difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Call of Duty: MW3 for Wii November 9, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I got MW3 for both my X-Box and my Wii. The main difference between the two if the graphics resolution, which is expected. As for everything else, I think that they are similar. My boy and I really enjoy playing it on the Wii regardless of the graphics. I would recommend the Wii copy even if you have the X-Box or PS3 version. It is worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars F***in' Awesome November 10, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Alright, hands down the best graphics I have ever seen on a Wii game. Yes, I know it is not PS3 quality, but man, it's definitely next generation. I have played the Xbox version of this game as well and am pleased to say EVERYTHING with the exception of a few killstreaks is here on the Wii version. The game is really really addicting, and the lag is not as bad as the other reviews say it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent on Wii!!! November 26, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My teen has had the earlier Modern Warfare game in Xbox and this is the first Modern Warfare on Wii...we'll never buy Xbox again! This is far superior, the graphics are great, the online he says is great, easier and quicker to find a game, the titles and emblems are cooler than MW2, you can also change your gamer tag as much as you want and there is no fee (why is there always some fee involved with Xbox?)
Very pleased, great game, and may I say, as a mom...I like that no one can send nasty private messages on Wii. Excellent Wii game!!!

Original review: *****

Just an excellent game for the Wii... there is a little shooting lag that you have to get used to but once you do, you will kick stuff all over the place. Crazy fun in training mode too. Wish that the developers were not so good at fixing glitches 'cause some of them are fun to use.

Modified 03/29/13: ***

Things have really gotten bad in the last 6 to 9 months. I like Team Death Match, aka TDM, the online multiplayer game, but hackers have taken over the lobbies and have ruined play. They will teleport you anywhere, anytime... usually right into the middle of their fire. They can make it so that they shoot the ground and score kills. They can make themselves fly and run like the six million dollar man.

It is just crazy, and TDM is totally no fun anymore. I am not willing to join the hacker ranks, preferring to play the game the way it was meant to be played. There are many MW3 boards and blogs out there posting that the issue has been brought to Activision's attention many, many times... One board moderator posted copies of emails sent over the last few months, stating that there has been no response. Another mentioned that the last time TDM had a maintenance patch was over a year ago, and he felt this meant that Activision has stopped supporting the game.

Additionally, TDM has lots of different maps that you can go into for online playing... but again, over the last 6 months or so, anytime you login after 5PM Eastern (once school lets out for 2/3 of the US), access to most of the maps goes away and only the map called "Lockdown" is accessible.

Once again, research of different boards and blogs confirms that this is a nearly universal issue and that people say they have been telling Activision about it forever.
