Great Guide Book!!!,
By Rob "princevalium" (Vacaville, Ca United States) - See all my reviews

I bought this guide book to see what advantages I could gain from it. This book has many details about the guns, maps, bomb locations, flag locations, weapons classes, and it has walkthroughs of all the levels. If you are like me and love reading anything about the game when you are not playing or want to just get the extra advantage of your opposition, then you need this book! I rarely buy guide books for games and took a chance on buying this one...it paid off for sure!!!

This book is great if you want an easy reference for things like:- What level a perk is unlocked - What attachments you can get for a particular gun - Looking at the overview of maps, perhaps to come up with a team strategy. - A walkthrough for single player This book doesn't really address the issues that will help make you play better in multiplayer, whether your playing solo or with a team. Just pay the game. I does not matter what the map looks like and the strategies out there. The book is not really worth it however if you are really into World at War maybe this type of strategy book can guide you for better multiplayer experience.

this game is amazing and this book is very thorough and helpful. my only complaint is that it serves as a guide for all gaming consols. i wish it was offered for the different consols.

The (Wii version of) the game and the book say that if you add a sniper site to a gun you increase the range and accuracy but do not effect the damage. With the M1, you increase damage, and you increase recoil when shooting from the hip. The web also says that adding the sniper scope increases the damage. I can understand the game being misleading because it wants to preserve both the realism (or give and impression or realism) and preserve playability. But a guide book perpetuating the distortions? Not forgivable. If anyone out there can credibly contradict me, be my guest. The call of duty wiki has MUCH more information in it than this book. The wiki tells you how much damage each bullet does and the gun's rate of fire, but the book just gives bar graphs with no units. The widi also has much more information about tactics. It's as if the developers wanted to sell some books but not give out any really specific information. (This assumes that the info in the wiki is correct, which it appears to be). Another issue is the maps. They offer very broad advice such as words to the effect that "there are lots of sniper hide outs on this map" without saying where many/any are. When they are trying to locate an item on the map, they give a verbal description rather than point an arrow. This is confusing and if I did not already know what they were talking about, I would not know what they are talking about. The walkthrougs for the single player were inadequate, too. They said what you had to do (duh) without saying how to do it; no help. One good thing is that that the maps of the multiplayer levels are better than what can be found on the web. The positive reviews for this book were written over a year ago, probably there was not as much information on the web then. I'm peeved that they could put a book out and DELIBERATELY miss out so much information, for example, rate of fire and damage per bullit.

This guide doesn't cover PS-2, which is the system I have. The description in the Amazon catalog doesn't say what systems it covers.

I was disappointed when I received the book because it stated that it was for a Playstation 2 platform but it does not match up with the game at all. It was a Christmas gift and now we are stuck with it.

Call of Duty World at War is not nearly as good as previous versions. Disappointed that the game hasn't improved but instead is inferior.
