It was like a blast from the past, reliving WW2 again on the PS2. I was never expecting much being that I played it in 2013, along with the fact that it's more of a cheap knock-off. My only real gripes about it are the AI team mates pushing you out of cover, along with the large amount of ammo. I don't need 400 extra rounds for an SMG.

Okay, most people don't, but I do. You get the idea though.
Overall, it's a fun thing to playthrough once, but mine is just sitting on a shelf now. As one of the final CoD WW2 games there is, it's an end to an era of CoD where you fight with brothers in arms against the ever classic Nazi regime and the Japanese Imperialists, disparately struggling to take a hill or eliminate a sniper.
For the cost of $5 on sale, I say it was worth it. it brought back a lot of memories from when I played Finest Hour as a little kid.

Call of Duty is my favorite series of FPS games. This particular game is very good in terms of controls, graphics, and overall gameplay. However, I do have some problems with this game: You cannot control any tanks (only playable as a gunner) and you can't drive jeeps (they are driven for you as you shoot at German soldiers) This makes the gameplay limited and redundant at times. Also, I'm disappointed in the use of soundboards from previous CoD games. All of the Germans sound exactly the same as they did in CoD 3. To most people its not a big deal though. Other than that it can be challenging and fun at the same time, but it lacks variety that the first three had.

This game is fantastic! It is chaotic and full of excitement, and the graphics are very nice for a late PS2 title. My only complaint is that there isn't split screen multiplayer, which other COD games have. Great game for any fan of COD or WWII though!

Before buying this game, I did a little research on it and came up with barely anything. In fact, review sites barely gave this title the time of day being that it's next gen big brother versions overshadowed this title; easily. Here's my review-

Graphics-
Comparing CODWAWFF against the likes of COD Big Red One (which I played for the Gamecube) isn't quite the comparison. For one, the graphics in this game are really dumbed down and loaded with jaggies. There's also way too much bloom at times and it really suffers from low-res textures. I realize it's the PS2, but there have been some great looking games at times. (think God of war, Mark of Kri, Gungrave, WWE games etc) Even against the likes of Medal of Honor- Vanguard for the PS2, this title just doesn't hold up well.
This game is amongst the worst looking games for the PS2, but there are some decent looking parts about the game.
The guns look decent, certain backgrounds just look okay and enemies look okay also.
But overall, being that COD big red one uses the same exact engine, I'm left scratching my head wondering why this game didn't at least look similar to it. At max, this game runs about 20 fps if that and the framerate stutters when "a lot" happens. (Yep, all 5 enemies rushing at you)

Score- 5/10

Sound-
The voice acting is pretty good, but the sound effects and music aren't exactly much to write home about. Some of the weapons just sound like loud bangs, while others sound a bit better. Again, nothing to write home about.

Score- 6/10

Gameplay-

Finally, we have gameplay which could've been this game's saving grace. CODWAWFF plays almost like Big red one or Finest hour, but lacks the "oomph" of those COD classics. You'll basically gun down 2-5 enemies at a time with bare bones objectives to accomplish and nothing that really sucks you into the already nonexistent story.
There are some moments that occur during the campaign like a soldier fighting off the Japanese and dying, only for you to pick up his flamethrower and give him slight justice so his death isn't in vain, but sadly, there aren't enough moments like this and the levels end up being corridor shooting galleries rather than at least having a decent pace. Most levels lack the Call of Duty pacing found in other games or that arcade feel.
With that said, the controls are tight and there's even auto aim assist in this game. The campaign is also a decent length, but some levels are incredibly short. (I went through one level in 4-5 minutes)
One of the things I didn't like about this game at all would be the lack of enemies. You'll get 2-3 enemies or 10 max in a bunker to clear out and it really seemed like devs didn't take the time with the engine to give a better experience being that most of the experience is like playing Medal of Honor 1 for the PS1 with limited enemies and backgrounds that are barren.
Although it seems like I'm bashing this game, there are some levels that come up later in the game that were great to play and pushed the engine/game a lot more than it's shoddy beginning. I loved playing in what appeared to be a burned down battleground and shooting enemies. But overall, I felt the game didn't provide enough of these moments to keep me interested.
In comparison to it's HD releases, certainly this game doesn't compare, but even when compared against the likes of games like Black Hawk Down, Cold Winter, Red Faction 2, Killzone or most 6th gen fps's, this game just doesn't add up. It feels rushed, the graphics are bad, the framerate stutters often even though it features good control.
I'd still recommend a buy being that it's cheap and it does offer something good at times.

I enjoyed the WW2 call of duty games, particularly Call of Duty 2, Big Red One, and the original call of duty and also World at War on 360. So I thought i'd try this for a few dollars.

Just skip it. It's a poorly made game all around. The levels are just corridors to run down while shooting, the graphics are rough even for ps2, the framerate sucks, and it's just plain boring. Go play Call of Duty 2 again. Man, what a game.

This is a very fun game to any person that lkes shooting games. I don't have a xbox 360 so this was the closest thing to the black ops 2 I could get and to be honest I'm glad. One reason its a 3 star is most of all theres is no mutiplayer which sucks. And second it doesn't have zombies like it does on the other consoles. Overllal it was a good game.

This game is different from the PS3 Call of Duty: World at War game but is still good. I would recommend playing both games if you are a fan of the WWII Call of Duty games.
