Call of Duty World at War is a Top-Notch First-Person Shooter For The DS!,

Call of Duty World at War is a insanely awesome DS FPS game.
Story - You will play in the feet of three soldiers each from the American , British , and Russian Campaign. As the Americans , you will fight against the strong Japanese army. As the British and Russians , you will fight against the Fascist German Military. You pretty much know the whole WWII story about each campaign. Gameplay - The game has a extremely nice feel to it , and is very intense .. but you will hit moments where it just feels like shooting gallery , but other than that the game is very intense and satisfying. Presentation - Having a organic and outdoor enviroment for any shooter just makes it feel a whole lot better , and this game exceeds at this certain thing. Im sure it wasn't easy to fit such a large , organic enviroment into a such a small chip. This game is extremely pretty , but not perfect , but still very good. Controls - The Controls are absoluty smooth on this FPS DS game. Every action you have to prefrom is on the touch-pad. Trust me , this game excells at controlls. Multiplayer - Call of Duty 4 for the DS didn't have online play , but thats not the case here this game has some fun online multiplayer. Allowing to play with up to 3 other people locally or around the world! There are Many gametypes such as : Deathmatch , Team Deathmatch , Capture the Flag , and a couple of other gametypes. There are over 10 maps to choose from . This game has absolutly Solid multiplayer. Story - 8 Gameplay - 9.5 Presentation - 9.5 Controls - 10 Multiplayer - 10 Total Score - 9.4

Just to tell you before I start going on about how great this game is, I'm not p. gasper, I'm her son. I got this game the day it came out, and I am about 3/4 of the way through it. I've experienced enough to tell you that this game is probely the best game you will ever buy. The realism has improved from COD4, such as seeing your hands when reloading, and the soldiers' faces are not flat(Except for the Soviets)You do have to get used to the less modern weapons, like the Tommy instead of a M16. The tank and bomber levels do take a little time master. There is an exclusive British campain on the game that adds to the reasons to buy it. Even though it is not as thrilling as the 360 version,it is still part of the greatest war game franchise. Don't believe me, try it.
One last thing, the revolver and the Soviet SMG and pistol are the most powerful weapons in the game. I haven't used all of the weapons in the game, but these three are probly the most reliable.

THIS WAS TESTED ON A NINTENDO DSI.
I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and enjoyed the game. However, World at War, utilizes more scene details, more voice-overs, extensive mini-games, online play, and a more realistic feel. This is a first person shooter, incorporating role play and mini-games giving you an enriching warfighting experience. Using your touchscreen and keypad, you navigate through the virtual battlefield and accomplish various tasks. There are more 'props' in the field such as rocks, bushes, foliage, crates and other hindrances to shield yourself but also make a more challenging way to fight the enemy. This game is so much harder than Modern Warfare since your enemies are on the same level, some are up on higher ground (hidden) or below you. I love the effects of gravel and dirt falling from the ceiling in the mines. This game just has so much more detail. You take controls as a Morse code operator, operation of a mortar, gunner on a truck, gunner on a ship, bombadier, operation of a tank, disarming mines, and a medic, for example, to add to the warfighting experience. There are a lot of weapons such as flamethrowers, handguns, machine guns, bazookas, and rifles. Reloading can be a pain, especially, if you just walked into a room of 4 to 5 assailants. Your heads up display gives you the appropriate direction of your objectives while giving a status of enemies in the vicinity. Artificial intelligence of your team members are actually better than on Modern Warfare (where I felt like I was a one-person army). Artificial intelligence of your enemies, are also improved. There are awkward moments, though, when your comrad walks by an enemy and the enemy's goal is to attack you - instead of your comrad and the enemy shooting each other. You play as the Americans, British and Russians in different missions, replaying World War 2 against the Japanese and the Nazi's. Graphics and sound are very good but if there are multiple enemies, the video tends to slow down. There were episodes when the enemy would fall after dying and half the body was separated by the wall/bunker. You have versatility of choosing individual missions, online play or playing a campaign. As you get shot by enemy gunfire, a red bar appears, and when you are near death, the screen flashes red. Luckily, if you can reach a safe area from gunfire, your health is restored. As your character walks through the field, it has a more realistic 'sway' as opposed to the navigation in Modern Warfare. The auto-save feature from one mission to the next, keeps the player in the heat of battle. Different milestones in the game are awarded with medals and there are secret items that add to the diversity of the game. Overall, this game has made many advances over Modern Warfare and is well worth your time and consideration.

I was hesitant to buy this for my 10 year old, but he really enjoys it and the violence doesn't seem too bad.

I'm not going to get into all of the details of this game as there are a ton of resources out there outlining the campaign and online modes but if you want a cheap first-person shooter for the DS, this is a good choice. Overall the graphics look pretty good on the DSi XL that I play this game on and there are times where it is kinda hard to see your enemies but if you shoot enough rounds in that general direction, you eventually drop them. I think the campaign mode took me around 20 hours or so to beat and I had the difficulty turned way down so it would be easier. This game has some fun vs. modes and online play that you can use and I was very impressed with the sound of the weapons and the detailing of the backgrounds to all of the game play. There will always be games out there with better graphics than what you have but you don't have a lot of options when it comes to FPS on the DSi so I figured I would give this game a chance and I did not walk away disappointed. The only thing that I have noticed is that sometimes it seems like I have to empty and entire magazine of rounds in an enemy to drop him and at certain points of the game it feels like a mindless carnival shoot-em-up but it is still fun. Also, the controls can be a bit tricky. You use the L/R buttons to fire and your D-pad to walk forward, backward, left and right. To look around, you use the cursor on the touch screen which can leave the DSi a bit lop-sided in your hands, depending how you sit when you play. I usually prop my XL on a couch pillow to keep it up and balance the XL in my left hand to keep it steady. I know it sounds unusual to get instructions like this but when you are talking about a game that you will play for hours at a time, you need to be comfortable. The reason why I traded in my DS Lite for the XL was because the Lite didn't fit my hands and would leave my thumbs aching about 30 minutes of play time, regardless how I held the lite, the DS XL fits me much better (but the XL is a different review altogether that I have posted). Anyway, if you buy this game expecting nothing more than a fun shoot-em-up with average graphics, you will be satisfied.

First person shooters on the DS are rarely this good. First person shooters from third-party developers and publishers on the DS that are this good are something even more rare. Call of Duty: World at War is such a rarity, and is a spectacular follow-up to last year's surprisingly good Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the DS. Going back to World War II, World at War features an engaging and cinematic presentation that provides some wonderful shooter action, as well as some of the best graphics and sound to come from a third party DS game in some time. Animations and effects look great, while the voice over work and overall audio production sound simply fantastic for a DS game. Controls via the stylus, touch screen, and face buttons can become uncomfortable, but is accurate and really displays what an FPS can do on the DS, while the game also offers enough replay value to keep you coming back, including some lengthy missions and more than solid multiplayer via the DS' Wi-Fi capability. All in all, there's plenty to admire here with Call of Duty: World at War on the DS, and the game by and far ranks as the best third party FPS to hit the DS yet, and definitely deserves a place in your DS library if you're an FPS fan.

I would have expected the game to have a little bigger selection of weapons, but otherwise it was fine. I loved the online part, i would rate it a 4/5. The campaign is quite fun too, i would rate that a 3.5/5, because the enemys sometimes just stand right infront of you or they sometimes "come back to life" after you shoot the 300 times. Besides that the levels are a good length and is a good game if you can't play M games, like me!

When I first saw this game, while looking for a DS game that my kid and I could play, I was hesitant because we have all of the COD games for our 360. I didn't want to waste money by buying a dupicate game I would not be happy with. I took a chance and am glad I did. First, this version bares little resembance to the larger versions made for ps3 or 360. Pretty much everything is different and this is of course made for the DS. It is very cool and a lot of fun. My gripe was that I thought we could play multiplayer off of 1 card- a great + for games like MarioKart for DS or the new CARS. Well, I splurged and bought a second game card right here on Amazon. Now my kid and I each have our own and we play against each other- VERY FUN!!!! I highly recommend this game, it is a real hoot!
