This was a very entertaining book with lots of action and adventure. It starts out where it leaves off at the first book, "Mr. Tucket". Francis Tucket is with the wagon train Mr. Grimes left him with. Then he decides to go out hunting on the prairie. After finding a large herd of buffalo, his Indian pony goes into the herd. He makes a big mistake by shooting his rifle while in the middle of the buffalo. The buffalo go into a wild stampede with Mr. Tucket in it. The stampede finally ends in the middle of the Great Plains. He sleeps the night and wakes up with two men pointing his rifle at him. They take all his food, ammunition, and even the shirt off his back. So he is stranded in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a skinny donkey. I liked this book a lot except the abrupt ending. Otherwise, the book is a great sequel and has lots of interesting situations. I would recommend reading the first book before reading this one. There are also three sequels in the Tucket books. This is an excellent book if you like the Oregon Trail or the frontier, or if you like Gary Paulsen books.

Francis is much more grown up in this adventurous sequel to the first book in the series, "Mr. Tucket". Francis is on his own, having learned so many survival skills from Mr. Grimes in the previous book. Once again he is forced to have his posessions (horse, rifle, clothes) taken from him by force. But the outcome is different this time, since Francis is much wiser even if he is 14. He is able to take care of himself just as well as any adult. Francis helps some kids, hunts buffalo, meets with Indians, and other frontier activity. The mule in this book steals the show by the way.

The only bad thing about this book is it is short. I read it in about an hour, and it is half the size of the first book. Don't get me wrong though, I sped through the book because you can't wait to turn the page and see what happens next. Mr. Grimes is not in this story. I can't wait to read the next book. I strongly reccommend reading the book that comes first in the series before reading this, the second one.

i really enjoyed reading this book. i wasn't wanting to at first but a id in my class took the book i wanted to read for his book report. I feel lucky thought because I realized that he hated his book and the chapters were long. Even if this reveiw isnt very good i hope you please reas this book its great!

Fourteen-year-old Francis Tuckett is traveling west bound, on the Oregon Trail when a tribe of Pawnee Indians captures him. Later, Francis meets a one-armed mountain man named Mr. Grimes who tries to help Francis get away from the Pawnee. He runs for more than ten miles, with no stops, no food, or water. I really liked this book. It was a good novel and very interesting, about the Oregon Trail. The story was detailed, and had a lot of suspense, and foreshadowing. One of the most suspenseful scenes was in the beginning, when Francis was captured. I thought that the Pawnee were going to hang him, but they wanted to adopt him.

Great book - the boys in my class read the first book in the series, and couldn't wait till I ordered this one! It is full of action, adventure, suspense, besides being a historically accurate portrayal of life on the Oregon Trail. Great pick for 4th and 5th graders - especially for the boys.

My son loves this book series. Give it a try. He doesn't like to spend his time reading, but has really enjoyed these books. Gary Paulsen is a great author, and has kept all my boys reading his books at least!

Call Me Francis Tucket
The book is about a small boy named Francis Tucket. Francis stays back a 100 yards to shoot his rifle. But then he gets kidnapped by Pawnne hunters and they take him back to their tribe. He gets rescued by a guy named Jason Grimes and Francis stays with him for a year. But then they parted ways and Francis was all lone again on the parie. He stumbled upon a heard of buffalo. He shoots a cow but the buffalo did not like the loud noise of the gun firing. Francis gets caught in mass mayhem with a stampeding heard of buffalo. When the heard stops, Francis shoots another buffalo at forty yards. This time he gets to skin it when he is ready to go to sleep. In the morning he wakes up to the sound of people talking to each other. When he wakes up there is a person in front of him and he was talking to someone.
I think that the theme is life out west. Life in the west can be very hard when you get left behind by your wagon train and get kidnapped by Pawnee hunters. When you haven't eaten for 2 days and cant find anything to eat, you might starve to death.
My opinion on the book is that when you find two small children, take them with you and take care of them. Also, try to find were there wagon train went and where their pa went like Francis did.

He then heads northwest with the children to someday meet up with the wagon train.

The book I read was titled Call Me Francis Tucket. The author is Gary Paulsen. This book is a sequel to the story Mr. Tucket where Francis Tucket is captured by a group of Pawnee Indians on the Oregon Trail on his way out west. In this sequel Francis is surviving with a man named Mr. Grimes. Mr. Grimes is a man who rescues Francis from the Pawnees in this story. Mr. Grimes has been with Francis for a long time and teaches Francis lots of survival skills until something comes up and Mr. Grimes has to take care of some business. There are tons of events that happen in this story and it kept me on the edge of my seat. This book made me sad and made me laugh. This was a great book and I encourage anyone who wants to know more about what the west was like and for people who are interested in survival stories.
