Book Description

May 1, 2008
"Castle is a rising star! Call Of The Highland Moon thrills with seductive romance and breathtaking suspense. This is an author to watch!"
--Alyssa Day, USA Today bestselling author of Atlantis Awakening

A Scottish Highlands werewolf fleeing his destiny ...

Gideon MacInnes is a werewolf from the Scottish Highlands. He loves the haunting beauty of his home, but runs away to upstate New York, grappling with his destiny of being his clan's next alpha. As a snowstorm closes in, Gideon is attacked by rogue wolves working for an enemy he never imagined existed. He stumbles, wounded and bleeding, to collapse on the doorstep of Carly Silver's tiny romance bookstore-ironic, as she's never been very good at relationships with men.

A warmhearted woman, looking for a new pet ...

Thinking he's a dog, she takes him home, treats his injuries and wakes up to find a devastatingly handsome naked man in her bed.

Trapped together through the raging storm, Gideon discovers that he's found his mate and Carly has to choose between becoming a werewolf, charged with protecting humankind from the inhabitants of an evil otherworld, or giving up the one man she's ever truly loved ... (20081006)

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Gideon MacInnes is next in line, among Scottish werewolves, to be the guardian of the Stone of Destiny, but he wants to see the world first. In northern New York, he's attacked by mercenary werewolves hired by his treacherous cousin, Malachi. Wounded and near death, Gideon flees to the doorstep of Carly Silver, who takes in the sad-looking animal and nurses it to health. When she wakes, the wolf has become a man. Carly reacts well, and her attraction to Gideon is immediate, but her life is in danger from the werewolf following Gideon. Carly's job as the owner of a book store specializing in romances won't go unappreciated. Some readers will want more pack dynamics and supernatural elements, but fans of straightup romance looking for a little extra something will be bitten. (May)

1.0 out of 5 stars A disjointed read., May 10, 2008

I love supernatural tales. I sat down to read what I thought would be a gripping Shape shifter romance. I really thought this was going to be a book to capture my love of this genre. I am so disappointed. I managed to read as far as page 46 hoping the story line would become clearer. It didn't. What a mish mash of words that failed to get me the reader, even vaguely interested in what was about to happen. No story line became clear for me to follow. It felt as if I were watching foreign language movie, with no sub titles. I always thought the art of a good Author was to grab the reader's attention in the first few paragraphs. This book failed miserably. My book buying money is too precious to waste, on books by this author, in future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book One of the MacInnes Werewolves Series, January 27, 2009
This review is from: Call of the Highland Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
Gideon MacInnes is an alpha, next in line to take over his clan. His clan has been guardian of the Stone of Destiny. He understands this responsibility he is to inherit, but is lonely. Needing time away, he travels to the states. He's attacked and almost killed, but finds haven in front of a store owned by Carly Silver.

Since Gideon is in wolf form, Carly thinks he's a large dog, possibly has some wolf in him. She brings him home and nurses his wounds. When he changes back to human form, he's in her bed. What neither one realizes though is Carly is now in the same danger as Gideon from the same evil force.

I enjoyed the basic story idea. What paranormal romance lover wouldn't? I love the chemistry between the hero and heroine. There were two areas I had trouble with. First it was way, way too much repeating of information. I found myself skimming a major portion of the book, so that I could get to the good stuff.

The next area was the believability factor. Even within the realm of werewolves and vampires, there has to be a believable story throughout. Some areas seem to lack that.

This book is first in the Castle's Highland series. The next is DARK HIGHLAND FIRE followed by WILD HIGHLAND MAGIC to be released in May of 2009.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highland Werewolves Oh My!, July 4, 2008
This review is from: Call of the Highland Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Castle has introduced a new spin on the Scottish Stone of Destiny, the Lia Fail and what the stone's power entails. The attraction between Gideon and Carly sizzles the pages with the tantalizing gazes they give each other, let alone their kisses, caress ...you'll have to read the book to know more. Trust me, you'll want these two star- crossed lovers to beat the odds and find true happiness.

Ms. Castle's secondary characters are just as memorable, Carly's friend, the gorgeous Ragan and her scrumptious treats she bakes. You'll be endeared to Carly's over protective brothers and demanding Italian mother. Gideon's brother may have a carefree attitude, but when the chips are down, Gabriel has the family's back. I look forward to reading more about the Guardians of the Lia Fail, which the author hints at the end--there is more to come. Well done!
