Tala is the Chosen of a tribe of warriors who seem to belong out of time. Nor is the fact that Tala is supposed to kill Jason as her duty to protect her people a thing that stands between them. Rather than destroy Jason, she seeks to heal him, to help him control the beast that would steal his humanity. At every step of the way, she must fight with her brother for control of the situation, and also fight herself. Passion and love are forbidden to the Chosen, else their unique powers that protect the clan are lost. Love, duty, secrets, and danger form an intoxicating mix of turmoil and passion that is destined to explode, the fallout of which is only death.

* Jason's long awaited story is one that is hard to put down. Mixing Brigadooon and Witness for feel, this novel is compelling, passionate, and even sweet. The tormented impossibility of the love herein will make your heart ache, and the surprise ending will make you rejoice. Let us hope that Ms. Thompson is not done with the wolves yet. *

Jason Donavon was cursed. The only way he knew to lift the curse was to find the werewolf that had bitten him and then kill it. The wolf within him was getting stronger. Jason feared that he would soon lose his humanity forever.

She was called Tala Soaringbird by her people. She was "the chosen one". She was granted the powers to protect her hidden people from "the outside world" and from the Sica (A.K.A. the werewolves who feed on humans). As Chosen, Tala's duty was to seek out the evil ones and destroy them. It was during such a confrontation that she met Jason.

By rights Tala was to kill Jason. But she could see that Jason was still in pure form. He had not yet given in to the beast or tasted human blood. And Jason did not know it, but Tala already owed Jason a debt. In order for Tala to repay the debt, she risked everything.

* The plot sounded so wonderful and I had enjoyed the story of Jason's brother in a previous story. However, this book simply could not hold my attention at all. The characters never became real to me. I found myself getting bored and putting the book down often. As much as I enjoyed this author's previous work I can not recommend this one. *

It has been three years since Jason Donovan and his brother Rick were attacked by a wolf that was more than a mere wolf. Three years spent by Jason searching for the creature responsible for cursing them to answer the call of the moon. Once he finds it, Jason hopes to kill it and release he and his brother from their prison, so that they may be fully human again, not half wolf.

Then Jason is attacked by another werewolf and rescued by Tala Soaringbird. But when a second werewolf shows up to attack Tala, Jason instinctively leaps to her defense. He awakens to find himself her prisoner in a secret tribal world hidden deep inside the woods of Canada. There the mystery of who changed him and how he must learn to live with his new identity is revealed.

Drive-In Movie critic Joe Bob Briggs has a routine where he complains of "Way too much plot getting in the way of the story." Call of the Moon suffers a tad from that. Less time is spent on the romance between Jason and Tala and more on Jason learning the ropes of his environment. Granted there is a reason for this, but one would hope for more romance in a romance novel. There is some nice humor and the twists are credible, so the book is not a complete wash-out. Four stars might be a tad over generous, but the book left me hoping the author would revisit her characters. Tala's brother especially, who is in need of a strong woman. Recommended strictly to werewolf fans.

All Jason Donavon wants is for him and his brother Rick to be free of the curse of the werewolf that bit them three years ago. He searches for the evil one that placed this odious spell on him for Jason knows he must kill it if he wants to escape the darkness.

In Canada while still on his quest, Tala Soaringbird saves Jason from certain death from a werewolf. Tala and her people hunt werewolves, which means Jason must die, but instead she senses his honor and courage to fight and control the rage. Jason and Tala also feel an animalistic-like attraction for one another even as she seems to contain the power to reign in the beast that resides inside Jason. Though he desires her with every ounce of his soul, Jason doubts whether he can trust her. He wonders when the full moon arises will she kill him as she has been trained to do since birth?

CALL OF THE MOON is an exhilarating werewolf romance that will have supernatural lovers howling at the sun and moon for more work from Ronda Thompson. The lead couple is a charming duo, but it's the realm that the author creates that hooks the reader. The darkness engulfs the audience with twists and turns that make sense only after you turn the corner. Fans of a powerful yet entertaining paranormal romance need look no further than this page-turner that must not be read during a full moon.

Call of the Moon is a wonderful piece written by the talented Ronda Thompson. Her werewolves are hot, sexy, and erotic, and their sweet yet wild charm pulls you in and makes you fall in love with them. She has written the perfect combination of mystery, sexual tension, and journey of self discovery that keeps the reader turning the pages in anticipation of what is to come. If you love the paranormal and sensual written works, you will love Call of the Moon.

I really love Ronda's books, they really make me keep reading from beginning to end without stopping. I hope to see new books from her soon, as I have read all she has written so far. Thanks again you are a wonderful author.

This is my first book by Ronda Thompson. She wrote a different take on werewolves.

It started out somewhat slow. Tara didn't have to be so secretive. I thought it took her too long to explain herself and her brother got on my nerves. I know he was suppose to be the tribe's leader and protector of his sister but he came across as annoying.

Jason was alright. I just had a hard time believing they were really in love since there were so many misconceptions both leading characters had of each other.

Woo Hoo! I really liked this book. I had a hard time putting it down. Though improbable, the story and plot were imaginative and well thought out. It is NOT your typical love story, he is a werewolf, she is a Native American who's job it is to hunt, and kill werewolves. They meet in a dark alley and are attacked by werewolves. He wakes up tied to her bed... I will not write anymore. You will just have to read the book yourself. I will be watching for more by this author, Ronda Thompson. It's about time someone walks on the wild side!

Tala is a Hunter. The quarrey she is after are those who turn their changling powers for only the evil and cruel, the killing, and their joy in it. The indiscriminent propogation of the evil ones is not to be tolerated, and that is her purpose. To the outside world, her people are only a legend. Her small tribe is one of the few left and on the brink of extinction, and she is their protector. It is a job that has always been held in great reverence and yet, Tala resents that she is the chosen one. Her brother resents that he was not the chosen, and has treated her with a harshness that goes far beyond protection. She wishes she could have what other women have...a home, family, and love, but unless a miracle happens, or unless old legends are true, that dream will never be filled for her....

Ronda Thompson has once again slipped into the paranormal and provided an excellent sequel to Midnight Serenade, her story in the AFTER TWILIGHT anthology. Drawing from conventional myth and legend, she writes and thinks in the most delightful ways, providing us with a wonderful look into her version of the werewolf and their lives. A consumate storyteller, she draws you in and holds you tight in her wonderful wildly woven web of sensual intrigue. A tantalizing blend of suspense, mystery and romance, Ronda has given us a delightfully poignant and exciting story that you don't want to miss. Jason and Tala will catch you imagination and your heart. CALL OF THE MOON is a real must buy in my opinion!!! I know I could not put it down.
