5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read for anyone with a Chronic Illness
This is a wonderfully moving, informative, and inspirational book. The author does a great job providing thoughtful, well-researched information combined with a deeply personal story of her search for healing. She calls upon us to use the experience of chronic illness to uncover the essence of our being - to love yourself despite the confines and challenges of everyday...

2.0 out of 5 stars A spiritual journey that has nothing to do with CFS
I'm all for enlightenment, but this book was basically about how to use your illness as your 'spiritual burden' in order to become a better person. Nothing about how to really heal or get better, and she admits that she is still ill.

So if you are looking for spiritual meaning behind your illness, this would be a great book to read. If you are looking to...

This is a wonderfully moving, informative, and inspirational book. The author does a great job providing thoughtful, well-researched information combined with a deeply personal story of her search for healing. She calls upon us to use the experience of chronic illness to uncover the essence of our being - to love yourself despite the confines and challenges of everyday life. I was moved to follow her advice, wisdom, and leadership to follow my own path to healing. I heartily recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A gift of a book!, August 25, 2005
By
This review is from: CFS is a Call For Soulwork (Paperback)
I love Gretchen's book! I've struggled with CFS for almost 8 years, unable to work or do much of anything. Coming upon Gretchen's book was such a wonderful surprise! She understands the CFS lonely path and the very complicated dynamics involved in trying to get well. Instead of giving me one more cure (how many times have we CFSers heard that!), she gently opens up her own life and experience to us to show how CFS has transformed from the enemy to her closest friend. CFS has given her life back to her in ways she never knew she was missing, even prior to her CFS! Gretchen opens up a different path for us to explore for ourselves, not someone else's path we must try and imitate.
And in following my own path, I too am finding the gifts that she talks about. In 8 years of CFS, I have never found a book that is so helpful on so many levels, and I'm recommending it not only to fellow CFSers, but to any family member or practioner who helps people deal with CFS or any chronic illness.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh approach to CFS, January 9, 2006
This review is from: CFS is a Call For Soulwork (Paperback)
Gretchen Nassar's Call for Soulwork is a forthright approach to dealing with CFS and a host of other related conditions. It goes beyond the medical/physical aspects of CFS and into the emotional/psychological/stress-related aspects. There are no simple solutions to CFS, but this book is a honest look of how fear and stress can seriously affect your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect invitation to explore our feelings and validate who we really are, February 9, 2006

This review is from: CFS is a Call For Soulwork (Paperback)
Call for Soul Work is a very inspirational book. CFS represents an invitation to explore our own feelings and to validate who we really are. Through her journey the author teaches us that in order to face the most difficult situations in our life, we just need to be ourselves. We are the only ones capable to find the way out. Because no matter how hard it gets there is always hope and taking the blessed of learning from the most threatened experiences we could become better persons

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and life changing for anyone with CFS, August 17, 2008

This review is from: CFS is a Call For Soulwork (Paperback)
After reading "A Call For Soulwork" I have for the first time felt truly optomistic about healing from CFS. Many people with CFS are highly driven, and this book awakened me to the idea that it is ok to just "be" for a season, instead of having the need to be "doing" all the time. It has helped me to accept where I am, believing this is not permanent, but where I need to be for right now in order to heal. Gretchen gives meaning to CFS. This is not all for nothing. This book will help any person with CFS to feel understood and not so alone. Gretchen has been transformed through her journey with CFS, and I now believe this is possible for anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope in Healing, October 8, 2007
This review is from: CFS is a Call For Soulwork (Paperback)
Whether you are somebody striving to heal from CFS or simply somebody looking for a deeper understanding of whole body wellness, you will find this book to be filled with insightful gems. Through the telling of her own story, Gretchen show us that we are not alone in our journey to health and that true healing is an exciting multifaceted process. I do not suffer from CFS, yet I found the chapters on "The Energetic Body" and "CFS Remedies" very clear and helpful, and I loved the "Call For Soulwork Checklist" in the beginning of the book; I plan to review this checklist often for myself and my clients. In summary, this book is filled with love, hope and inspiration for a myriad of mind/body/spirit challenges.
