From KIDS FIRST!: Who knew a wolf dog could forever change a young child's life? Classic literature combined with human challenges helps a girl learn to embrace nature and enjoy simple living. When a city girl finds a wounded dog, one with a lot of wolf in him, and decides to keep him, her life is forever changed. To keep him, she must work together with her grandfather and a neighbor to compete in a race that they have to win in order to keep the dog. Along the way she faces many obstacles including a bully, a stranger she isn't comfortable around, and her own nature as she learns to let go of the materialistic part of her in favor of the practical necessities for winning. Some viewers might object to some characters smoking, but there is a strong message that smoking is very bad for you. KIDS FIRST!® Child Juror Comments: "Very good. It didn't copy the book, but the characters read the real book. There was too much emphasis of the city girl thing at first. It was kind of cool when she found the dog and sympathized with it. It was the beginning of her change. It showed lots of scenery along with the characters and it was gorgeous. need for more,

I have noted in the last few years it seems that about the only films that are being release is loaded with graphic horror and bloodletting while the need for family fare is almost none existence. Well this film is a good family film. The story in itself strays from Jack London's story but it does give you the sense of adventure needed to spur the imagination of the young and old alike.

This was one of the best movies that I had seen. Great acting, beautiful scenery and great looking wolf.This new movie version also features within it the story of the original "Call of the Wild" using the same wolf. Highly recommended.

Just a repeat of the same old lonely misunderstood kid perseveres over the odds and makes good plot. I got it for the 3D which was poor and difficult to watch. Way overpriced.
