Cant Believe the Difference!!,
This review is from: Callaway Ball Diablo Golf Balls (12-Pack) (Sports)
I had tried out callaway balls before, and knew I liked them, but had not settled on one type till recently. At [...] i took the survey of "which ball should i use?". It recommended to me the callaway diablo as the ball for my playing style. I was skeptical, but found the money for a pack and tried one out. Never before have I ever noticed such a huge difference in the way a ball performs! It wasnt the way i was playing, having played with a different ball the night before. Everything the box says, was happening. Definetitly got longer shots and more fairways, stuck the greens more and enjoyed a softer feel with my wedges and putter. The only problem is they come in a twelve pack, they work so well i only need one!

Low- handicap should give a try,
This review is from: Callaway Ball Diablo Golf Balls (12-Pack) (Sports)
Im a 6 handicap and used the ball in winter conditions.Overview: - Very good distance w/ tee shot - Above average spin with 8 iron through 6 iron - Easy to roll, I liked the way the ball came off the putter - Held line well on approach shots in windy conditions - only disadvantage, around greens and in bunker will not get spin like ProV1 or mulit-layer ball. Superb ball for price. In normal conditions (Temp 70-85) would probably go with higher spin ball.

These balls are GREAT off the tee. These things can easily add 10-15 yards to your drive. If you make contact with these little guys they will FLY. Which is a good and bad thing: good because of the yardage and bad because of the lack of control and forgiveness. If these are hit slightly off center they will zip right into the woods. I would describe these much like a Ferrari - great speed but a little bend in the road and you're out of control. This is especially true when chipping onto the green. Great energy but often over shoots. As another review commented, these will also shoot pretty hot on the green. And by hot will explode off the putter. You sometimes have to scale back your stroke at bit to chip to the green, or really dig into the ground.I don't want to come across as though these deserve 2 stars, I actually do like them a lot. One thing worth noting is how they don't feel like a regular 2 ply where it feels like the ball is make out of Plexiglas. They do have a softer feel with a lot less 'high pitched "clinkiness"' that so often comes with cheap two-ply balls. Summary Pretty good ball, great price, just a little too reactive for those aren't there with their swing yet. Not all that versatile. For those that "have it together", these are great! Although double the price, the Tour ix is a great ball (found on the course). The tour ix's are really a good ball that has some weight to it and some nice control. Just throwing it out.

For a 13 handicapper, this ball flies really well particularly in cooler weather. It is long and has a very soft feel. It performs very well for most tasks. Some adjustment is necessary around the green as the feel off the putter face is much like hitting a rubber ball.

diablos are my favorite callaway ball, they have a lively feel but very soft. I can hit them a little further than my favorite 2 piece, the bridgestone e5+. Honestly im a little more consistant overall with the stones but someone who hits straighter than me might like the diablo more. Also, diablos dont spin much around the green and roll fast when putting.

I'm in the second year of playing this ball. It is phenomenal. Now, let me tell you why. First off, I've been playing golf a little over ten years. I play to an approximate 15 handicap...like a lot of folks - sometimes lower and sometimes higher. I've played the PRO V1, PRO V1x, all the different versions of Callaway, Bridgestone,...etc. This ball is LONG off the tee. Just like any ball - the player actually hitting it will determine the vast majority of the "end result" regarding performance. So, if you play a lot (say more than one round per week), you do realize the differences in golf balls - and the performance dynamics...etc. Though this is a two piece ball, I will tell you that this ball comes as close to the performance of many/most three (and more) piece balls that I've personally played. The ball is soft - and has great spin characteristics around the green. Granted, this is NOT a PRO V1 or PRO V1x, but the trade-off regarding performance around the green...etc is VERY MINOR - in my opinion. Having stated, already, that the ball is soft - I've found that the ball has terrific spin rates around the green, the feel is very good, and ball is quite durable, too. If you are a single digit handicap player, then I understand laying down close to $50.00 for the uber-expensive, multi-piece golf balls. However, if you're a mid-handicapper like I am - and you're looking for a reasonable combination of distance and great feel around the greens, then I'm advocating the Callaway Diablo golf ball as a possibility for you to check out. At less than $20.00 for a box of 12, you'll like the price, too. Once you blast the ball 20+ yards past your opponents (playing the PRO V1 or PRO V1x), you'll smile to yourself knowing that you made a shrewd, fiscally responsible choice. Give this ball a try. I think you'll see what I mean.
