Explaining Callaway Golf Technologies
Callaway X fairway woods are outfitted with several core technologies, including both relatively new innovations and technologies that have stood the test of time. The clubs' Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, for instance, allows Callaway engineers to adjust the face thickness to maximize the ball speed and perimeter weighting of the club. This produces even more distance and forgiveness, a must when trying to eke out a few extra yards from the fairway on long par 4s and 5s. With VFT in place, the club is thicker in the center and ultra-thin around the edges, allowing the clubface to transfer more energy to the ball at the moment of impact. Another crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented technology that shortens the length of the hosel and allows Callaway to move the weight lower and to the more useful perimeter weight of the clubhead. This boosts your MOI even more.

The fairway woods I owned before this were made from wood ... so I offer no expertise on modern fairway woods. I am just starting to play golf again after 30 years of no golf ... that is the background. I really like this 7W metal fairway wood. I think it may be my favorite club. On the driving range it looked like some of my shots were going over 200 yds ... maybe that was an optical illusion? How far should a 7W go? Anyway, for the price, I think it is a great club.

I bought this club for my wife because her set didn't include a 7 wood. She finds this a forgiving club. Very easy to hit. Callaway has a great reputation for standing behind their products. We appreciate that very important fact. Top of the line in quality and service.

I have only gone out twice with this club, a 7W, but I lready love it. The previous reviewer I believe had been playing only with wooden woods prior to purchasing this club. I have Adams Ovation 3W and 5W and Cobra S2 Offset driver. The Adams and Cobra have a hollow metal feel when you hit them. The Ovations are amazingly light. This club actually reminds me of old wooden woods except they have a sweet metal ping when hit properly. I recently hit my old set of Ping real woods and the weight of this club reminded me of them, a heavier head than I have been used to. I love this club really. Off the tee, on the fairway, in the rough it is destined to be one of my favorite clubs. I bought it without trying it because it was only $40 and I really needed a 7W to fill a gap in my clubs. I couldn't be more happy. I might add I started golfing before there were hybrids so I am a bit traditional. I only have woods and irons in my bag, no hybrids. I am 58 and have been golfing since I was 24.
