I've been on the hunt for a very light golf bag that I can take on short courses.

In my quest, I looked at pencil bags, sunday bags etc....and I had two big issues with them:

1) they don't stand
2) they're too small

In my research I came across this bag from Callaway:

1) it's new for 2010
2) it weighs in at 3lbs
3) it can carry a full set of clubs (I wouldn't)
4) it's a stand bag
5) it has tons of pockets and even a pen holder and towel holder
6) very nicely padded backpack style carry strap (you can strap it over both your shoulders)
7) construction seems very sturdy
8) comes in many color options

Overall, I can't say enough great things about this bag - it's nice and sturdy. Callaway just released this XTT feature which makes the entire bottom of your bag bend when you put it into a stand position -- this helps the bag be more sturdy when it's in a stand position.

It has 3 divisions (For me, have Woods, Irons, and Putter/Wedges)

At the end of the day, I still have my 8lb cart bag that I'll use whenever I go play at a big course but for the executive golf courses or for going to the range, I'm loving this bag right now.

I wouldn't put 14 clubs in this -- defeats the purpose of keeping things hyper-lite. I try to shoot for carrying no more than 5lbs, if I'm going to carry the bag throughout the entire golf course (that's not that many clubs)

If you don't have this bag, you're missing out.

This may be the best bag in this weight class. I had been looking very hard for a titleist, sun mountain, or taylor made bag that was (1)under 3.5 pounds (2)as waterproof as possible (3)had more than 2 sections to make 14 clubs realistic (4)had a decent stand.

Every other bag missed one of these. I even considered some sunday bags, but found nothing. I found this in a pro shop at a course an hour from home, and was very surprised by how high quality this callaway product was. I have traditionally stayed away from callaway apparel, accessories, and shoes for that reason.

The only negatives: a weird zipper system that allows you to remove the apparel pocket seems pretty pointless. Also, there is no second handle in the top rim like some of the 3.5 pound titleists, though the regular handle does a fine job. I personally prefer a single shoulder strap for caddies so I switched the very bad double strap for a single strap at my club.

Pretty good all around.

I bought the Callaway Hyper-Lite last summer and returned it the next day to Golfer's Warehouse because the stand legs didn't raise all the way when carrying and they hit the back of my thighs as I walked. I was given another and it worked fine at the store, but once I got home and put the clubs in the bag, it did the same thing, bumping my thighs with every step. I decided I'd made a bad purchase and just stuck with it. I still use it occasionally but prefer my Sunday bag when out for a practice round even though it can't hold a full set. Except for the bad leg stand retraction, the Hyper-Lite is a solid, well-made bag with good features, but I would never recommend any Callaway bag to anyone after this experience.

I live in NYC and have to trek out to NJ most of the time to play. Thus I prefer as lightweight a bag as possible. I am writing this review in comparison to my old junior stand bag from Nike. This bag is actually LIGHTER in weight (less than 3 lbs) and is not a bag for juniors! It also stands better with and without the kick-stands. If sitting on a slippery surface (like my apt floor), the kick-stands on my old bag would slip all the way out and would practically break unless I brought them back in. But, without the kick-stands, my old bag would fall over so I basically had to lean it in the corner somewhere. On my new bag, however, the kick-stands are only allowed to go to go to a certain distance and that's it. And, without the kick-stands, it sits perfectly balanced (with all the clubs in it)! This bag is also bigger and has more pockets than my old bag. And it has the velcro thing on the outside to stick your glove on and let it airdry. Keeps my glove from stinking up as badly. Lastly, it has padding, whereas my old bag did not. This is so much more comfortable on my hip and side! Like I said, I love it! Very happy with my purchase. :)

Reliable stand, lots of pockets, valuables pocket on the inside, sturdy design. Slight buyer's remorse when I got it and realized how small the bag is, but that's my only complaint. You can make it work if you play with a standard 14 clubs (or less), but this bag isn't for those of you who carry an extra club or two, OR if you use a putter with an oversized grip.

Got the bag because only 3 lbs (actual weight) and hold 14 clubs. Been using for over a month and would have given it 5 stars except today the clip holding the strap to the bag snapped.

update 7/16/13 I replaced bag after 1st one defective. No problems with new bag. Super light and great for walking. Current bag gets 5 stars so upgraded review to 4 stars
